You need to test the unit on a external sound source, to see if the audio amplifier is working correctly. By checking it on another source you can determine if the sound amplifier system is failing or you have had some problem with you speakers. Once you determine the problem. If it is the speakers, you can replace them with new ones. However if it is the audio amplifier section failing you will have to take it to a service center where they have all the service information to do the repairs. If the unit is still under warranty, have it serviced by Insignia. You can reach their customer support with this telephone number !-877-467-4289. Give them the model number of your television and the problems you are having with it. The should be able to tell you how to have it serviced. You can also check out their website for customer support at www.insignia-products.com. If the unit is out of warranty, you must have someone help, you troubleshoot the problem and try buying parts for the repair. You can call this number for insignia parts. 1-888-237-8289. You can also search the Best Buy website for parts on these units. The website is www.bestbuy.com. It is always recommended to ensure that your TV is powered down before connecting or disconnecting cables. Unfortunately, it is likely that your TV requires service for the power issue.

I would suggest trying to repair the board first before buying a new one (unless you get a great deal on a replacement one). Its possible it was something simple like a fuse or busted capacitors.
Open up the TV and take out the power board and check it for any busted capacitors. Also check the fuse(s) with a multimeter. Try replacing everything with a soldering iron (shouldn't cost more than $10 for a fuse and capacitors). Try and see if it makes a difference. ONLY DO THIS IF YOU ARE CONFIDENT and SAFE with that type of work.
