If by soft reset you mean turning the phone off and then on again, usually due to it freezing up, this can be accomplished by holding the power button for 10+ seconds. This will power down the phone, then you simply power it back up again.

Take your memory card out of phone. You will need to do a hard reset. This will wipe anything you have downloaded to the phone itself so keep this in mind. With phone off hold your green and red buttons down along with the volume down "at same time" until the phone powers on. This will reset your pbone back to when you first got it.
