Our air conditioner is running, but the air isn't very cold.

There is ice on the unit and the cord (tube) leading to the house.

Does anyone know what brand is good? Is Rheem construction grade, or a good one? Is Lennox the best?

Unless your filter is very dirty you have a unit low on Freon. Which means you have a small leak.

Has the cooling effectiveness reduced? If so, it might be loss of freon gas. If not just clean the filter and insulate the tube entering the house with glass wool or rock wool and cover it with aluminum sheet molded on the insulation and the ends held fast by small screws..........sodeep

Clean the filter. remove as much of the muck from the evaporator coils as possible. If the filter is messy replace it.

If the tube you are referring to is the larger of the two, it may be that one of these conditions exist.
Inadequate airflow over the indoor coil due to:
Plugged air filter
Plugged indoor coil
Blower not running to speed
Blocked return air or blockage in the ducts
Blower wheel fouled with debris
In some cases damaged valves in the compressor will cause the tube to ice up.

Leaking water from my refrigerator

Tubing in back of refrigerator leading to the ice tray is jammed with solid ice and whence maker timer calls for water back pressure prevents water from reaching the ice maker tray. Remove the tubing from the back and pull out the plastic tube that feeds the ice maker tray. Put the tube in hot water to melt the the and blow through it to make sure itis clear. When reinserting the plastic tube stick your head inside the freezer door and be sure the end of the tube overlaps the tray. The problem will be solved but the same thing will happen at some later date. I believe I solved this problem too. I got a roll of surgical adhesive bandage that's about a sixteenth inch thick and insulated the tube to prevent it from freezing again. It's been two months since and thank God it worked. The Frigidaire engineers could use this one.

Water leaking from ice maker line

Is the fill tube (on the inside of the freezer) full of ice? If so, you need a new water valve and the tube in the back should just push inside of the rubber tube on the back of the unit

Ice maker won't work. Water is coming out of the back of the unit

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR ICE MAKER FILL TUBE IS FROZEN AND YOUR LINE POPED OFF. YOU NEED TO DEFROST THE FILL TUBE MANY TIMES THIS HAPPENS FROM POOR WATER PRESSURE EITHER YOUR HOUSE LINE OR THE REFRIGERATOR FILL VALVE.

Whirlpool ice maker

Sometimes the fill tube to the ice maker can freeze up. Remove the screws holding the ice maker, see if it will lower out of the way. Now the fill tube is visible, check to see if it's clear. If you have to unplug the power cord, there is a tab that has to be pushed down. If you find the fill tube is clogged, clearing it may just solve your problem.

Ice make problem

I THINK WHAT YOUR SAYING IS YOU HAVE ICE AND WATER IN THE DOOR AND YOUR GETTING WATER IN THE DOOR AND NO ICE,IF THE ICE TUBE IS CLEAR YOUR PROBLEM LIES IN THE INLET WATER VALVE OR THE ICE MAKER ITSELF,YOU CAN JUMP THE WATER VALVE TO SEE IF IT SHOOTS WATER TO THE ICEMAKER,FIRST PULL FRIG. OUT,REMOVE BACK PANEL,TAKE TWO LEADS OFF THE VALVE NOW GO SEE IF YOU HAVE WATER STILL COMING OUT OF THE DOOR,IF YOU DO THESE ARE THE LEADS YOU NEED,FIND A OLD POWER CORD YOU NEED TWO CLAMP FITINGS OR GATOR CLIPS,SLIP THEM ON THE TWO TERMINALS ON THE WATER VALVE ,THEN PLUG THE CORD INTO A OUTLET AND COUNT TO 5 AND UNPLUG,NOW GO TO THE ICEMAKER AND PUT YOUR HAND IN THE WELL AND SEE IF YOU FEEL WATER IF NOT YOUR VALVE IS BAD,IF THERE IS WATER IN THE WELL YOUR ICEMAKER IS BAD,GET THE MODEL NUMBER FROM INSIDE THE FRIG. AND CALL LOCAL APPLIANCES PARTS STORE AND GET THE NEW PART,LET ME KNOW-MIKE

ICE FORMS IN THE WHITE PLASTIC WATER TUB LEADING THRU THE BACK OF THE WALL TO THE ICE MAKER. SHUTTING OFF THE WATER TO THE ICE MAKER.

The units not getting enough water pressure to keep the water flowing fast enough not to flash freeze in the fill tube. You will have to check the water supply valve on the plumbing and the back of the unit to see witch on needs cleaned out or replaced.

ICE MAKER NOT WORKING

Yes, the ice maker controls the water valve. First check that there is water in the ice maker trays. If there is your valve is not the problem. If not, loosen the fitting on the water line that leads to the water solenoid valve. If you do not find water, check your manual valve that taps into the main water line. If you do have water, it may be that the water inlet above and behind your ice maker is frozen. You can thaw it out with a hair dryer and see if that is the problem. If this model dispenses water through the door, you can find the water solenoid valve behind the unit near the floor and reverse the two plugs on the solenoids. Place a paper towel in the water inlet tube that channels the water into your ice maker. Close the coor and press the water dispenser for 3 seconds. Open the door and see if the paper towel is wet. If it is, the water solenoid is fine. You can also remove the front of the ice maker and put an insulated jumper wire between the T and H test points to see if the unit ice maker will go through its cycle.

Ice maker will not eject the ice.

I don't know if this is your problem but I had a similar problem and it was low water pressure causing the blades to freeze up. The valve on the water tubing leading to the refridgerator was not fully open and the tubing was kinked.
