Question about Nintendo DS Lite Console

7 Answers

Does not power up or turn on.

DS Lite is only 2 months old and today it stopped working.  Green power light only stays on for a second when turned on - and only when it is plugged in. When you plug it in, the red charging light stays on for a second then goes out. When it is NOT plugged in, no lights come on, even when you turn it on.  It was not dropped or damaged. It worked last night but this morning it does not. Thanks, Janet

I tried to charge it with the car adaptor - the red light just goes on for a second then shuts off, just like it does with the house charger.  How can I check to see if the battery will not accept a charge? I took it out and cleaned it like the first suggestion I was given.  Still not working.

I think that this problem is caused by either f1 or f2 fuses being blown. The other problem mentioned where the green light comes on for a second then goes out again is usually caused by the cable connecting the top screen to the motherboard, it is either broken, damaged or incorrectly seated.

Most of the time its the top screen needs to be replaced since if you over extend the top screen flip by grabbing or pulling the connector can become faulty. Replace the top screen will probalble fix it.

I had the same problem. In my case, it was exposed to a tub of soapy liquid. I tried replacing the battery (didn't work) and tried tinkering around with it. I wound up just throwing it away. Still, there might be a chance that it can be fixed... maybe...

Sounds like F2 on the bottom board has blown, I'd contact the retailer and if they're no use go direct to Nintendo, at 2 months old it should still be under warranty so I wouldn't want to touch it with a screwdriver.

It could be the power cord that is the problem, see if you can go to a shop or if you have a friend with one, see if you can borrow their cord to see if it works hope you find a sulution :)

On power up the green light is on for 2 sec.

problem with the main board inside of the DS Lite. Its not staying on with the voltage being provided. To verify this. Plug your DS Lite into a working outlet and see if it stays on.

If it doesn't stay on then take the battery out and only hook up the ac adapter to it and see if it stays on.

At that point if it doesn't stay on, try to use another AC Adapter to see if it stays on, if it doesn't then you know for sure the main board is bad and you would need to get a new ds lite.

DS won't turn on

Hi Atticus,

I have seen this happen when someone plugs the wrong charging cord up to the DS lite, Is there any chance some one did this to your DS lite.It sounds also as if the battery is not making proper connection.

  1. REmove the battery from the compartment
  2. inspect the connector on the battery and where the battery connects to the DSlite.
  3. Wipe thee connections off some way. I suggest some contact cleaner for bith the battery and Battery compartment connections
  4. Try the DS lite again with the battery installed.

I hope this gets you in business  Atticus. Do not Vote until we get it working.  Try this and add a comment to this problem posting. I will answer as soon as I possibly can. Thank you very much for the opportunity to solve your porblem with a DS Lite.

Ditto... except my daughter is 10. Both screens remain black, are fully charged and green light stays on for more than 4 minutes.

Power problems with DS Lite

Really sounds like a dead battery. The DS will not work if the battery is bad even when it's plugged in. You get the quick flash of the power light and that's it.

Still not charging

i'm not sure that you can actually check if the battery does not accept charge, you might want to ring the distributer and see if they can send you a replacement battery :)
