One of the drawbacks of free email services is that they're easy to forget you have an account. Yahoo! Mail is just one of those free email services.

Say a few months go by, you've turned your attentions elsewhere, but you remembered you have a Yahoo! account and you want to check your email.

But after you log in, it informs you that your Yahoo! Mail is no longer active. What do you do?

Log in to your Yahoo! Mail account as usual.
A message will appear that says your account has been deactivated due to inactivity.

Reactivate your Yahoo! Mail by clicking on the "Reactivate Your Yahoo! Mail address" link that is located at the bottom of the page.

Sign into your account at least once a month to avoid automatic deactivation by Yahoo! in the future.

Yahoo.com tells me that my password has expired. What do I need to do?

If you ever find yourself with a locked Yahoo account, it's likely due to multiple incorrect password attempts.

As a security measure, Yahoo's email and chat client servers automatically lock your account to prevent unauthorized access after there have been multiple invalid password entries.

The ID Lock security measure safeguards a Yahoo account from unauthorized users who try to access your account without permission.Cause

After multiple incorrect password entries to a Yahoo account, the server automatically sets a lock on it.
This happens because every time a Yahoo Account holder logs into his account, he's logged in with a cookie.

A cookie is an information packet that proves you are the valid account holder.
However, when a person tries to access an account with many failed attempts, the cookies expires, triggering the ID lock on the account.
24-Hour Wait

A Yahoo account holder must wait up to 24 hours before accessing the account again.
The lock on the account expires within 24 hours from the time the account was locked.

Unlock Using Another Server Since Yahoo! has many servers around the world, a user can log into his account by visiting a different Yahoo server address. (See Below.)
http://thingsaboutcomputer.blogspot.com/2009/03/how-to-unlock-yahoo-when-account-is.html

Copy and paste a Yahoo! server URL into the address bar of your Internet browser to access the website.
Enter the Yahoo! ID and password in their respective fields, and click on "Log in" to access your yahoo account.
Avoid Yahoo Account Locks
To prevent future Yahoo! account locks, a user should limit the number of times he tries to enter a password.

If an account holder has forgotten his password, he should use the "Forgot Passsword" feature to reset the password.

How do i update my phone

Hello, Tanisha.

Your telecom provider, such as T-Mobile, would inform you of the update. If you have not yet been informed, please contact them.

But, as one user noted, before you update, please think about what could happen. They said: " ... you don't miss out on much if you don't update. I have been looking around in the phone software for a few hours and only noticed 3 things :
- Phone has 'lost' about 18 MB of the 91 MB memory i had available. This is not a great thing for me as i worry a bit that it will come to 0 in one or two years time.
- The screen after waking up is a different one now and it's the one that can be found on Youtube if you search for the new 'Ice cream cookie' or Android 4.0."

Hope this helps.

I am locked out of my account. It says invalid password. Help me please. I have had the same id and password for over five years

Try to relog in after a few hours, it might be temporarily blocked due to excessive log in attempt.

If you think you typed your password correctly, check the following:
  • Is your CAPS LOCK key on? Passwords are case-sensitive, which means that "PASSWORD," "PaSsWoRd," and "password" are seen by Yahoo! as three different passwords. Try typing your password again, making sure to use uppercase and lowercase letters exactly as you typed them when you created your password.
  • Did you sign in with the correct ID? Make sure that you are using the correct ID (user name) when signing in to your account. If you have forgotten your ID, you can search for your ID online.
  • Have you changed your password within the last 24 hours? If you recently requested a new password or changed your password, wait 24 hours before typing your new password. Waiting allows your account to update. Otherwise, if you've entered your password too many times, you'll be locked out of your account for 24 hours from the last time you entered your password. This is a security feature. A good work around before you change your password is to close your browser, go to the Sign In page, clear your browser's cache, and carefully type your password again.
  • Delete your cookies. If your cookie isn't being accepted correctly, you'll be logged out of your account as soon as you move to a different page. To delete your cookies, follow the instructions in the online help for your browser. For example, in Internet Explorer 7.0 and 8.0, from the Help menu, select Internet Explorer Help, and then type delete cookies in the Search box:
  • Try another browser. For example, if you're using Firefox, try Internet Explorer instead.
If you're still having problems, please request a new password. After you receive your new password, you can change it.

How to get a password on facebook

Hi,

If you're having trouble logging in to your Facebook account, you might assume that you forgot your password. But maybe the Caps Lock key is tripping you up. Facebook passwords are case-sensitive, so "QWERTY7" is not treated the same as "qwerty7". Turn off the Caps Lock, and try again.
Still no joy? It might be a cookies problem. If cookies are disabled in your browser, you'll be returned to the login page even after entering the correct password. If you use Internet Explorer, click on Tools / Internet Options / Privacy and change the setting to Medium to allow cookies. Firefox users, go to Tools / Options / Privacy and check the "Accept cookies from sites" box.
Restart your browser and try to log in again. It's also possible that cookies are being blocked by some over-zealous firewall, anti-virus or anti-spyware software, so check your settings there if problems persist. If you have heard stories that browser cookies are evil, read Eat Your Cookies for more information.
Okay, if none of that helped, you probably DID forget your password. No problem... just click the handy Forgot Password? link under the Facebook Login button. You'll see the "Trouble Accessing Your Account?" screen that's pictured here. Enter your email address (the one you used to sign up for your Facebook account) and Facebook will send you an email describing how to reset your password. You won't actually get your old password back, but you will get to pick a new one and regain access to your account.
So what if you forgot your password AND your email address? Or what if you can't login to that email account for some reason? Some sites have an automated way to regain access to your account by asking you to answer one or more security questions, but unfortunately Facebook doesn't. You can contact Facebook by email at info@facebook.com, explain your situation, and hope for the best. Your Facebook profile does have a security question, so I recommend that you include that question and answer when you grovel. But with millions of members, I would not expect a speedy response. I'd even suggest that you repeat your request if you haven't heard back in a day or two.
Change Your Faceboook Password or Email It's a smart thing to change your passwords on a regular basis. If someone does gain access to your Facebook account by guessing your password, or watching over your shoulder, you limit the exposure by changing passwords. If you're logged in and want to change your Facebook password, click on Account and then Settings to get to this page. You can change your password, your contact email address, or your security question.
It's also a good idea to use a different password for each online account. If you use the same password for everything, and you forget it, then you're out of luck. To avoid this type of problem, I suggest you use a password manager to help you keep track of all your passwords in a secure manner. My Remembering Passwords article offers some tips for choosing a password manager. You might also want to read Secure Passwords for help with selecting a good password that's hard for others to guess.

The problem is possibly caused by your Internet browser and not with your yahoo account. You need to clear the cookies and internet files to resolve the problem. Here's how:

Clear Cookies and Internet Files

* For Internet Explorer version 6
1. Open IE6 > Tools > Internet Options.
2. Click the Delete Cookies button and Delete History.
3. Click on OK > Close and re-open your IE6.
4. Try accessing your e-mail account.

* For Internet Explorer version 7
1. Open IE7 > Tools > Internet Options.
2. Click the "Delete" button under the Browsing History option.
3. Delete the Cookies, Internet Files
4. Click on OK > Close and re-open IE7
5. Try accessing your e-mail account.

* For Mozilla FireFox
1. Open Firefox > Tools
2. Select "Clear Recent History"
3. Select Cookies, Cache, Browsing and Download History.
4. Close and re-open Firefox
5. Access your e-mail

Good luck!

It won't like me on my account or watch any videos on Youtube

If "your browser sent a request that this server could not understand"
and "size of request header field exceeds server limit", your request
is a bad or oversized cookie. (The same thing is true for "Error 400").

For some very strange reason, it seems 9 of
10 Bad Request messages implicate Firefox.

Simply delete your "Cookies" and everything
will be okay. Don't worry about erasing them;
nothing bad will happen. You won't lose your
internet browser's "Bookmarks" or "Favorites".
The worst thing that could happen is you will
be asked to retype your username/password
when you return to YouTube and some other
websites -- that's all.

As you're dumping your cookies, you should
also erase all your "Temporary Internet Files"
and "History". This will render your computer
totally "fresh" in YouTube's eyes. It would be
best if you shutdown / reboot after doing this:

Internet Explorer 6:
> Tools > Internet Options
> Delete Cookies > OK
> Delete Files > OK
> Clear History > Yes
> OK

Internet Explorer 7:
> Tools > Internet Options > Delete...
> Delete files > Yes
> Delete cookies > OK
> Delete history > OK
> Close (browsing history window)
> OK

Peace,
B
