Hello There

the system restore is done on certain dates not every day, when you go to select system restore it comes up with a calender only the dates in bold should be selected for restore.

Hope this helps, please don't forget to rate me.

Only the dates listed in bold have a system restore on them. Try one of those.

It is ratings like this that make us not want to answer letters. There are two ways to make a restore; one is from a full back up made with restore and back up. You mentioned nothing about that. So the only other option could be that you were not choosing the bold dates. If you were, and it still didn't work, you might have told us that up front. Two of us with the same answer could not have deserved a rating of "Inappropriate".

I hope you get your computer working, and I hope next time you use our service you provide plenty of information, and consider that questions like yours don't make the experts any money. We do it strictly to try to help folks who don't know how.

    Thanks a lot.

Hi!
My suggestion is to simply restore the computer back in time when the issue isn't yet happened. It can be achieved by doing a system restore. Please go to Start>All programs>Accessories>System tools>System Restore. Then please select a date when the issue isn't yet present.

Hope this work and thanks for reading my suggestion.

My HP laptop will let me sign on but it won't let me see the screen after that. It goes pitch black. I've tried restarting it, i tried switching the batteries, And i tried charging it for the whole night....

Power on the computer and start tapping F8.
That will take u to the advanced boot options.
In that u will get an option which says Last known good configuration.
Try that, If that doesnot work, try safemode.
While loading safemode, it will ask u whether u want to try system restore.
Start system restore and restore the computer back to a previous date when the computer was working fine.
If it doesnot help, reinstall the operating system.

Hi. i lost my sound on hp dv 8113 cl few days ago

  • Hi, the best thing to do at this point is perform a "System Restore." Try to remember the exact "Date before the problem occur, or once you start the System Restore, ("pick a date going back more than 5 days"), check the dates and see if any of the dates seem familar. Pick the closest date prior to the "Sound going out!" Type in the "Search Window" from the start menu: system restore; scroll to find, and open. Follow all the instructions carefully for the process to be successful. "Hope it works out for you; if so rating the help will let me know, thanks."

COMPUTER LOST SOUND USE TO PLAY MUSIC BUT NOW THERE IS NO SOUND

first check if it is on Mute.

check also the the device manager so you can actually see if the driver software for the sounds is properly installed or needs to be reinstalled.
if that is so you need the drivers and utilities CD that came with the computer. after successfully seeing the driver window check the audio driver and install the driver that have a check mark. after that restart the system.

you can also try to do system restore 1-2 days before you have the problem. to do system restore in windows xp, click start, click accessories, click system tools and click system restore. at the system restore window click next or restore, after that theres another window that will show you the dates you can choose, again choose the date 1-2days before you got the problem the hit next and finish. if the system restore doesnot work try again to choose another restore point.
if you are using windows vista or windows 7, click start and in the start search type in " system restore " and same thing do the same instructions above

i hope this helps

I downloaded Internet Explorer *8 from Internet Ex. #6 yesterday, since then I keep getting a message saying cannot find server, or cannot connect to server, what did I do wrong?

Boy, do a system restore.
1 start .
then click Help and Support
.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 Under Pick a Task
, click Undo changes to your computer with System Restore
.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 Select Restore my computer to an earlier time
, then click Next >
.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4 Under, 1. On this calendar, click a bold date, select a date before problems were observed with the computer.
Dates in bold indicate a restore point is available for that date.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5 Under, 2. On this list, click a restore point, click to choose a restore time from the list.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6 Click Next >
.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7 Verify that the desired restore point is listed, then click Next >
.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8 After the computer restarts, the Restoration Complete page of the System Restore window appears. Click OK
.
If the problem still occurs, try restoring the computer to an earlier restore point.

In windows vista..everything would remain the same. instead.
step 1 & step 2 will change

click start> and start typing system restore (in the start search box) and then click on system restore.
everything else from step 3 will remain the same. and you wont see any calender or bold dates, but you will only get the restore points. also click on show me restore points older than 5 days. to get more restore points. then select the restore point and then continue.

if this doesnot work. then post the problem again with the ip address of your computer. to get the ip address call your ISP.

System restore won't work

Just a thought- go to My computer>click on view system information>system information box, click on system restore, and make sure box is unchecked.
If you have any anti-virus programs like Norton, Macafee or AVG, disable them if you can, as well as any non-Windows firewall programs.
If you can remember recently downloading any other program that might interfere with system restore- anti virus or otherwise- then delete or disable that too.
