Question about EA - Electronic Arts Sims: Complete Collection for Windows

1 Answer

Tried switching to neighborhood 2 and the screen freezes. Can't even quit the game without using task manager. Have to uninstall and reinstall to play.

In the Sims Complete Collection, in the main neighborhood screen I clicked the arrow next the 1 in the top left corner and it said 2. Then 4 prompts kept loading over and over again and I couldn't do anything. It wouldn't let me click to quit the game and I had to bring up the task manager to exit the game. In order to play I have to uninstall and reinstall everytime. Help!

You should go to The Sims website, they have technical support and a lot of user created sites with chat rooms. Also there are downloads for each expansion pack from The Sims. It is also a good idea to play the Sims with your internet connection offline, and any backdround programs turned off.

How to force quit uncooperative programs on a PC.

Have you ever encountered annoyingly slow or freezing programs that will not quit when you try to close a window? There is a simple keystroke you can use to quit the programs:Ctrl+Alt+Del. This enables you to access the Task Manager. Task Manager keeps track of all the computers processes as well as the CPU usage and physical memory and can be used to monitor and quit unnecessary programs that can slow or freeze your computer. You simply hold all three buttons (in sequence) and you will be redirected to a different screen that gives you options. Look for Task Manager. (note: If you have Windows XP, Task Manager will pop up as a window). There are 6 tabs (Applications, Processes, Services, Performance, Networks and Users). We will only cover the Applications tab.Once you are in Task Manager, click on the applications tab, if it is not already showing. You will see the titles of programs you are using, if any, and its status (running or not responding). If a program is not responding simply highlight it, by clicking on it and clicking on the button at the bottom labeled "End Task".This should force quit the program(s).

After downloading a few games online, my computer been freezing up on me. It would freeze up 1 or 2 minute after i turn it on. I even tried to do a System Restore, but that would freeze up also. Even if...

Possibly a compatibility problem with software. Check your task manager for for new or unknown processes, and check your startup processes for such issues. Also scan your machine with an anti-virus and malware scanner.

Hope this helps, careful what you download, and always scan before opening.

Acer Aspire One D250-1042 shows desktop wallpaper but won't load

Start by logging on as the Administrator so you can check the Task Manager and find out what Application or Process is monopolizing the system.

If the system is still unresponsive boot into Safe Mode. (Press F8 before the Windows startup screen appears.) If everything is fine in Safe Mode type MSCONFIG at the Command Prompt and start disabling features until you find the culprit.

Last resort, buy or borrow an external USB CD/DVD drive and use it to reinstall Windows.

Important: Reinstalling will ERASE the hard drive.

If this helps please vote for my solution.

I can print from the internet but not from open office or ms word

Open up your print queue. Cancel All jobs.

Go to the start menu and either click on, or search for cmd. This will open the command window. You also need to open your task manager.

In the task manager, search for a process called spoolsv.exe, or if that doesn't exist, find a process with "spool" in the name. This is your print spooling process. Right click the process, and end it. You can close the task manager now.

Next, go to the command prompt. Type "net start spooler" without the quotes, and hit enter. This should restart your spooling process. Close the command window, and try to print.

If this doesn't work, you should check to make sure you're printing to the correct printer. If it doesnt solve the problem, uninstall your current printer (you may have to end the spoolsv.exe process again), and reinstall the drivers for your particular model, which you can find at the manufacturers website.

After I play a game, my screen icons become large and will not restore to the original size.

This happens to me sometimes. It sometimes depends how you shut down the game.(wheather you ctrl+alt+delete to get into task manager and exit of wheather you shut it down from an option inside the game.) If the screen refuses to return back to its original size, go into the screen settings(right-click anywhere on the desktop and thin click properties) where you are able to change resolution etc. and then just have ago at changing these settings. I hope you found this reply useful.
P.S, if u are running windows vista, after rifght clickign on the desktop click personalize then click "display settings" otherwise if you are running windows xp click on properties.

Can't Uninstall Game

Mitch, check out whether there any component allready running or not. To check out press Ctrl+Alt+Del and click on task manager.

1). Click on Application tab, it will list all the application currently running on your system. See the similar name which you are planign to uninstall, if you find then select it and Click on End Task.

2). Click on Processes tab, and select the all similar process names, select that and click on End Process.

3). Goto control panel click on Add/Remove icon, select the program and click Uninstall.

I think in this you can uninstall.. if not then Ask me .... :))
