Our Roomba makes little gouges in the woodwork about 11" - 12" apart, what causes this?

Is it literally ripping through the varnish on the floor and tearing into the wood? Two gouges 11-12" apart sounds like the space for the wheels. I would look to see if there is anything wrong or missing from the wheels. Aren't the wheels rubber though? Also check the white/black ball wheel at the front. The axle for this can get clogged up with hair and it will stop turning. Then you're just dragging or pushing a locked wheel. I can see this might scrap the floor. Insert a small standard screw driver in the gap at the right or left and this ball wheel can be pried out. Then remove all the hair wrapped around and into the axle. Pop back into place when done.

Brush has stopped rotating

Be sure to remove all threads, hair and debris from all parts of the brush. Also check the wheel well where the brush attaches. Sometimes threads, hair and debris will build up in this area and keep the roller brush from rotating. You will need a firm brush and perhaps even tweezers to remove any stuff you find. Once this is done, if you still have problems there might be a connection problem and you should take it to a professional.
I hope my first suggestions solves your problem. BE SURE YOU UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS!

It only spins in one place then stops

As said, if it beeps 9 times after stopping, than this is known issue and if your bumper moves freely, you might be facing a sensor fault caused by poor quality of components.
Here is a guide to fix it

Have fun

The belt keeps on slipping off causing the brushes to stop

Over time the belt stretches and gets to big to stay put all of the time. Get a new Hoover belt and install it. That will solve your problem

Miele S758 stops working for no reason

The problem on mine was as described by others. Miele s758 stops for no apparent reason. The first time it happened I had the hose assembly replaced under warranty. Two years later, same problem. I have found that contacts at BOTH ends of the hose were intermittent. I dismantled both ends, extracted both sets of contacts, immersed both sets of slip-rings in methylated spirits and cleaned all the black gunk away. The three PCB mounted contacts were similarly cleaned, retensioned and lubricated with Electrolube. After re-assembly the problem has disappeared. I imagine a repeat procedure will be required in a couple of years.
CAUTION: The procedure is a bit tricky, so unless you know what you are doing, it would be preferable to have it done by someone who does. It is worth fixing as the replacement assembly is $AUD400.
