Within Android settings of the S8 select Wi-Fi (to turn it on)... you may need to toggle or slide between off and on to enable The tablet looking for a Wi-Fi signal.. Then select Wi-Fi again to see the networks that are broadcasting and select your particular WI-Fi router. Enter the password for your network.

SOURCE: Belkin Wireless Router/HP Laptop - wireless security problem

This is an unusual problem. It's interesting that you can connect without encryption. A few thoughts, which you may well have considered already:

1) Does this happen even when you deliberately disconnect from the network, and reconnect?

2) The network key/passphrase is case sensitive; it is very easy to make a small slip with this, or some other tiny detail, when entering the key;

3) Is there the slightest chance your router has the same SSID (name) as a neighbour's? ....Sorry if this seems a daft question, but it is something to consider...

SOURCE: Can't connect to my router anymore (WEP encrypted).

Hi deray953,

First we need to remove the previous profile in your wireless network. I believe you know the SSID for wireless connection using WEP security. You can check this by going to;

Using Windows XP SP2/3
1. "Control Panel" > Switch control panel to classic view ( look at the upper left side ). > Double click "Network Connections" > Right click "Wireless Network Connections" > choose "Properties"> Click the Tab "Wireless Networks" ( middle tab) > go to the list of profiles and remove the Wireless name or SSID for your home connections. > click OK and Close the properties of wireless.

To reconnect again, you need to know your WEP key or network key for wireless connections if not, you can do this procedure...

1.Connect the computer to one of the four LAN ports (i.e port 1, 2, 3 or 4) on the back of the router. The corresponding port light where you connected the computer should be lit up.

2. Access the router's web-based utility.

a. Please open any web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
b. Connect to the router by typing http://routerlogin.com/basicsetting.htm or http://192.168.1.1 in the address field and click Enter or Return key.
c. A window will prompt for a user name and password. By default, the user name is "admin" and the password is "password".
d. Click on the Wireless Settings under Setup.
e. take note of the KEY 1 ...that is your WEP key..take note of it.

Connecting Through Wireless Zero Configuration (Windows XP SP1 and SP2)

For Windows XP Service Pack 1:

1. Please right click on the Wireless icon on the right lower end portion of your computer. Then, click on View Available Wireless Networks.
2. Click on the Advanced tab.
3. Please delete all the preferred networks then click on OK.
4. Right click on the Wireless icon again and click on View Available Wireless Networks.
5. Please select your network and click on Connect. If you have Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) or Wi-fi Protected Access (WPA) enabled on the router, it will ask you for the network key. Please type in the Network Key and then confirm it.
6. Make sure not to enable IEEE and then click on Connect.

For Windows XP Service Pack 2:

1. Please right click on the Wireless icon on the right lower end portion of your computer. Then, click on View Available Wireless Networks.
2. Click on the Change Advanced Settings.
3. Click on the Wireless Networks tab remove all the preferred networks then click on OK.
4. Right click on the Wireless icon then click on View Available Wireless Networks.
5. Select your network and click on Connect.
6. If you have Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) or Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) enabled on the router, it will ask you for the network key. Type in the network key and confirm it. Then click on Connect.

Note: You may use the wireless utility of your wireless adapter in connecting to the wireless network but you need to clear "Use Windows to configure my wireless networks" on the Wireless Networks tab.

Connecting to a Wireless Network on Windows Vista:

a. Click Start then select Connect To.
b. Connect to a network window will show up.
c. Select your wireless network's name or SSID and click Connect.
d. It will ask you for a network key. Type in your wireless network key on the field provided. Then, click on Connect.

SOURCE: Edimax BR-6424n router wireless works fine with

When you enter a WEP key, you must completely redo the new connection on the PC, remove the adapter and start all over again as in reinstall the driver, then do the connect to network, thing. BTW, you MUST save the setting in the router, and reboot the router, and then reboot PC, and then try to establish a connection. You should also use this tip, when you generate that BIG number WAP?WEP Key, copy/paste it to a notepad document, and save as wapkey. No after saving it in router and rebooting, when you come to the Field to enter the WAP/WEP key when logging onto the Router, you can simply copy & paste back from that notepad document you saved before. Now you should be able to login, remember to save network setting too. so you don't have to enter it each time you login.

Connecting android tablet to wifi

Network security key
Some later model wireless routers have the Password (ie.Encryption key) and the SSID already configured in the wireless router and this information is printed on a label on the bottom of the router.
These settings can be used to configure the wireless card and wireless adapters in your computer/laptop.
If these settings do not suit you, then it can be changed to suit your requirements.
The encryption key secures your data and wireless connection from unauthorized access. To configure the wireless settings in the router, connect a LAN cable from your computer to the wireless router, then open a Browser on your computer and enter the router's configuration IP address, then enter the admin login and password and then go to the wireless settings and configure the SSID and Encryption key.
The router's encryption key can be a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA or WPA2 key.If you use the Passphrase method select either WEP or WPA or WPA2 to generate the encryption key. You can enter the WEP or WPA or WPA2 key with 8 to 63 ASCII characters or 64 Hex digits.
Most people use Passphrase which is easier to remember eg. I was born in January 1988.
The strongest and latest security is WPA2, the weakest and oldest is WEP. To connect to your wireless router from the computer/laptop, configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPA or WPA2 encryption key. Then computer/laptops can communicate with your wireless router. http://www.fixya.com/support/r10267861-network_security_key

What does wep mean in nintendo wi-fi conection

WEP is a type of encryption that can be put on your wifi connection. You would use a WEP encryption key if that is the type of encryption your router supports. You will have to check your routers settings to see what type of encryption you are using to connection your DS to wifi and to get your encryption key, which is like a password to your wifi.

My ds lite wont connect to our internet i have a wireless router the ds says the security settings are not supported by the nintendo ds

WPA and WPA2 are not supported by the DS Lite, only WEP and unencrypted wifi connections are. There is no known way at the moment to make the DS Lite support WPA of any form so your only three options are to go to WEP encryption, use no encryption (not recommended), or set up an adhoc connection on a computer with that is connected to your router that has internet connection sharing enabled.

My wifi doesn't connect to any routers but it connect to my laptop ad-hoc.Still i am not able to use internet through ad-hoc.I have tried restoring my iphone, reset and erase settings, reset network...

Ad-hoc is a computer to computer connection.
You need to change the wireless configuration to Access Point (Infrastructure) mode with encryption.

Your wireless card in your computer or laptop needs to be configured with the router's wireless settings eg. the SSID and encryption key
The encryption key (network key) is in your wireless router, without this key the wireless router won't allow the computer or laptop to connect to this wireless router.
The WEP, WPA, WPA2 encryption key is in your router's wireless settings. Log into your router and got to the wireless settings, you will need to get the SSID and the encryption key. Then go to your computer or laptop's wireless card and configure it with the router's SSID and encryption key, so it will then connect to the wireless router and the Internet.

To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

I need help keeping my neighbors from using my wifi and others.

You will need to turn on the WPA or WEP security encryption on your router. You can get to the router settings by using a computer connected directly to the router using a lan cable. You will need to use 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 on your internet browser. This will take you to a screen asking for a user name and password. The default setting is nothing for the username and password is "admin". From there you can turn on the WEP or WPA encryption and create a passkey. Then each computer will need to have the passkey stored to gain connection to the router. This will also keep anyone else from connecting to your router without the passkey. And make sure to change the user name and password for your router so no one can change the settings on it.

I cannot connect to wifi in my ipod touch

Change the router encryption or create an encryption as WEP using your Zyxel router.

The connection in your college is maybe unsecured or no security?

- Try also to check the settings of your router make that unsecured or configured a WEP encryption to the router.
- Turn off the MAC filtering of the router (Under advance settings)
- Disable the wifi-protected setup of the router (Under advance settings)

- Refresh the network list before reconnecting to the network.

Note: As we try WEP encryption to some of the router, the IPod can connect to the network.

My 2wire router will not connect to my nintendo ds wifi system.

The DSi only works with WEP encryption. The 2Wire and most other newer routers use WPA encryption.

Simply logon to your router with a web browser. The default IP for it is 10.1.1.138 but it might be different, just check the manual or internet for the IP. Go to "Home Network" then "Advanced Settings" and change the security from WPA to WEP and save.

Thats it!

Hope that helps.
