Asus mypal A639 keeps shutting down

I had this problem on my A639 after going on holiday with it (I think the x-ray scanners did something to it). It started switching itself off more and more as the days went by until one day it went off and never came back. After resetting it, it just stayed on the blue "ASUS Rock Solid Heart Touching" screen. I was worried that it was totally broken and I'd have to pay to get it repaired, but after searching the internet it turned out all I needed to do was re-flash the ROM with a fresh copy (I used the latest ROM). It now works fine and no longer turns itself off... didn't cost me ANYTHING to fix :-)

Access the ASUS web-site, and select the 'Z71' device, and download and install the latest device-driver for the Z71. That should resolve the problem with this CD-ROM devicel.

I have a 64 bit HP pavilion with vista home premium. When the latest automatic update occured, it shut down Internet Explorer. In order to access the web I did a system recovery and shut off the automatic...

Remove the update the caused the problem in add remove programs, then update manually, or turn off auto update. You can also install and use firefox instead of IE or try doing a repair to IE. Usually IE updates to version 8 and it has problems - version 7 works fine. Uninstalling 8 changes it back to 7. Version 8 will not download properly on a lot of sites - they changed it so U have to use Windows explorer instead to download from FTP sites, and it will not connect to some sites due to all of the security they installed. You could try using default settings on security and turn off filters to see if that works. When windows updates IE it automatically changes to high security.

Computer automatically restarts after shuting down

Did you install the drivers for the motherboard already? If so check the connections from the power switch to the board which all should be on the bottom right of your mobo. I switched a + and - one time and it went into a infinite look of turning on and off = / Beyond that ASUS Customer support sucks and I would just try to RMA it and start over.
