SOURCE: D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G710 WIRELESS EXTENDER

the IP address must be different on the router & extender but use the same subnet mast. The extender has to have the gateway set as the IP address on the router.

SOURCE: Wireless repeater

Hi,

Might it be that your problem exist because both the 2Wire HW1700 wireless modem and the D-Link DWL-G710 have their DHCP features enabled? During the setup, use static IP adds, disable the DHCP function of the HW1700, follow setup instruction/procedures of the DWL-G710.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

I cant find the system password for my 2wire i38hg

If you start at your 2wire wireless router, follow the Phone connection, it should take you to a large white power supply that also says 2wire on it and is about the size of an small lunch box. there will be a sticker on it that says system password.

Is there a compatible repeater for thie AT&T 2Wire Gateway product? I cannot get the wifi signal througout the house, and the Hawking Unit I purchased is not compatible, even though Hawking thought it...

I'm not sure why your hawking is not compatible, it probably shuold be as long as it's on the same band and supports the same security settings (key/algorithm/etc.)

I'd start off with your hawking by changing it to open with no security, then try to setup your hawking. If that doesn't work then you may be right about it not being compatible. If it doesn, then add some remedial security like shared/wep40bit, then try to move up to a wpa2personal level of security.

Earlier today I had a Red Power light and only a green wireless light. Now I have no lights when I plug in the 2wire router / modem. Is the equipment dead or is there something I can do besides replace...

Try the following steps:
1. Disconnect the 2wire gateway power adapter.

2. Reinsert the power adapter directly into the wall socket.

3.Remove any power strips or surge protectors temporarily to ensure that these items are not preventing the 2wire gateway proper operation.Note: Make sure that you are using the power adapter that came with your 2wire gateway.

4. Plug the power adapter into a different wall socket in another room.

5. Press the red factory reset button if available.

6. If the power light is still red, then you will need to replace the 2wire gateway.

Purchase a different router and return the 2wire to the ISP explaining it is not compatible with your equipment at home. You may need to provide them with the new router's MAC address.
