Problem with Apple AppleWorks 6 (299735) for Mac

How do I open an Appleworks Draw (.cwk) in Mac OS X 10.5.6

I wrote 3 music theory books that are geared towards the VERY YOUNGEST beginner and/or the child w/ Special Needs, which were written COMPLETELY & TOTALLY in Appleworks Draw!! These books are more Graphics than text so a converter that just takes and pulls the text our of my .cwk document won't do me ANY GOOD!! The 3 books that I have already written are only 3 out of a set of 4 and the 4th book in the series is due in 4 weeks!!

Long Story Short... I NEED A RELIABLE WAY OF OPENING and some way of editing these files whether it is within the same app that opens the .cwk file or if it is via a Save As Option. I and my co-author spent litterally THOUSANDS OF HOURS creating very detailed graphics for these books and I REALLY REALLY DON'T HAVE TIME (or the necessary reference copies) TO REDO THESE GRAPHICS!!

PLEASE HELP!!

Thank You VERY MUCH for your help!!

AppleWorks was a great program. I miss some of it's features. But there isn't anything that is going to open them up to edit them, other than appleworks. You need to convert them into something else that will work for you. I agree with the other solution that putting them into a PDF format would work. You could then open them with Adobe Illustrator, and convert them to that format.
I have heard that EazyDraw can open them, but I have not worked with it.
I know this may be a stale question, but I can offer my services to convert these files for you: jbarnhart@minespress.com

I don't actually see what the problem is here. If you created them in AW, then edit them in AW. That's what I do.

You should be able to open them and edit them in Appleworks.  Use Save As to save the changes so the original file will not be overwritten.  Once all the changes are made you can "print" them to a PDF file that is more universal for reading but cannot be edited easily.
