Question about Dishwashers

Need to know how to remove the plastic grill in the bottom of the tub.

I have a Kenmore dishwasher, model 665.1602, about 4-5 years old. How do I remove the plastic grill in the bottom of the tub, so that I can retrieve some broken glass that fell down into it? I bought a special screwdriver and removed the 3 screws, but it's still firmly in place. I refuse to call for a repair on this!

Go to www.searspartsdirect.com and look at the parts diagrams for your model.  The part you are talking about is in the pump and motor parts subassembly.  From the diagram there it looks like taking out the screws is all you need to do to get it apart unless it is also glued. If it was glued they would not show it as a separate part in the diagram. There may be a plastic-to-plastic snap fit with the piece below.  I think you just need to tease it out.  Look for tabs that might be latched to the part below and use a small flat screwdriver to pru then apart.  Good luck.

Can remove bottom of dishwasher to clean kenmore 577-0

I'm a little confused about your question and dishwasher model number.... Is this an older (more than 10 years old) dishwasher? Maybe could you send a picture? Well, I THINK I know what you're talking about, and you should be able to unscrew that "knob", but you may need to get or use one of those rubber pads used to remove tough jar lids.

Kenmore Dishwasher 665.1383 is about 4 years old. The past 2 months it has developed a strong plastic or chemical smell. The smell has tainted brand new glasses that then have the odor when they are...

that's not the full model number, there should be four more numbers.anyway does it have a heating element in the bottom of the tub,if so feel it with your hands,a piece of plastic could of hit it and is still melting when you run it,you can try using dishwasher magic,it's a bottle that you stick in the washer, the heat opens the bottle and it cleans the machine, also what kind of soap are you using?maybe try a new brand.also make sure the heater is in the metal holders,i've seen it knocked out and it will burn a hole through the tub.

I have no way to connect to the granite counter top. Can it be mounted to the side cabinets?

Need prefix for model number. Need complete model number. I believe that the numbers that you have given are stock numbers from your user manual. Kenmore can be several different manufacturers. Some brands have kits to mount unit from the sides using brackets at the top. If stainless steel tub, look for removable plastic caps on the right and left sides of unit. These holes would be used for installing bolts into cabinet. If plastic tub and no kits are available holes can be drilled into sides to secure unit to cabinet. As long as heads of bolts(screws) are flush to allow door closing, unit will not leak because of tub(door gasket.

I have a model 665.15831791 When it fills with water it does not go into a cycle, it automatically discharges the water

It could be two things causing such problem: no power to the wash pump motor or the motor itself is bad. Remove the wire plug from the motor and check for the 120V when the timer is on wash cycle. If there is no power then check the wires and the plug at the timer. If this is not an issue replace the timer.

If there is a proper power to the motor then the problem with your dishwasher is a bad wash pump motor. If your dishwasher is less then 5 years old then it could be under limited manufacturer warranty. Call kenmore with the model and the serial numbers and they will tell you. If the dishwasher is more then 5 years old I do not recommend you to repair it yourself. I've seen many times when it's not possible to install the pump back after repair because the plastic tub got warped.

here is the link to the schematic diagrams for your dishwasher ... you can also order for timer and other parts if need be from the same link as well

Happened on my dish washer too. Remove lower rack, remove lower spray arm by removing the center plastic nut, check screws (torx) on outside edge of pump. Tighten these as necessary, mine were loose causing water to spray forward against the tub causing leakage.

Dishwasher tub leaks underneath

Hello. Anything is worth trying! But I would recommend epoxy. It works alot better with plastic and rubber items. Most of the leaks I have found in Kenmore machines are at the water pump. You may want to take a peek while it's running, just stay away from the wires!! Thanks!

Mine also started leaking. Element also too hot. Mine has a 20 year warrenty on the tub (which I was NOT aware of) Repairman came today and the whole tub unit and element will be fixed for free! Look in your whirlpool instruction book to see if yours is warrentied. BTW, my dishwasher is only three years old.
