HP Officejet Pro L7580: says load paper/won't print

I am having an issue that has me absolutely baffled...please help if possible.  Whenever I try to print or copy my printer feeds a page and a half through blank and then tells me that I need to add paper, even though the tray is full.  I'll then hit ok and it'll feed another page and a half and tell me the same message.
It was printing fine up to about a week ago when this error started and I've not been able to get it to do anything other than this over and over....on a one page print job it'll feed the entire **** of paper through one and half pages at a time without doing the job..
I'm going crazy!!

Nothing strange there at all....all of the default settings are in place. I've also performed a partial reset and retried...no change.  Any additional thoughts/ideas?

I keep getting error message 388 whenever I fax to any number. I have been able to receive faxes. My all in one is an HP officejet pro L7580

Hi there,

You probably need to run the fax test to check if the fax mechanism is working fine.

Click on Setup Button ( ranch like symbol ) on the printer front panel.
Scroll down till you find Tools ( press ok )
Check for Run Fax Test ( Press OK )
It will print the test results and everything should pass.

To solve your fax issue, follow the steps below.

Click on Setup Button
Check for Advanced Fax Setup ( or Basic Fax Setup ) - Press OK
Look for ECM ( Error correction mode ) - Press OK
Turn the ECM OFF

Try to send fax. It Should work.

Regards,
Ron

sounds like it could be printhead issue... have you replaced the printhead ? costs about $70-$80

  1. Load plain white paper into the tray.
  2. Press the Setup button (c01726396.gif ).
  3. Press the Down Arrow (c01243324.jpg ) to select Print Report , and then press OK .
  4. Press the Down Arrow (c01243324.jpg ) to select Self-Test Report , and then press OK . The product prints a self-test report.

Hello, I have an HP Officejet Pro L7580 All In One printer. Sat for 2 years. Barely used when purchased 3 yrs ago. Just hooked it up again. Replaced all ink cartridges...now prints are very pixelated and...

Try doing running it through it's aligment process.

It is also possible that the contacts where the ink cartridges mate up with the printer are corroded. Try using an eraser to clean the corrosion off the mating surface in the printer.

Hi,

Change the paper type and paper size and that should resolve the issue.

Original Loaded

I just came across this very same problem today on my L7580 and I found that there is a spring loaded bar that flips down and makes a contact. When paper is inserted it lifts this bar up and tell the feeder that there is a document. If this is stuck in the upright position then you will always have the "original loaded" message and have your issue. Mine had popped out of its alignment holes and I had to snap it in and the whole thing worked like a charm!!! I hope this helps everyone else with this issue!!!
