Question about Toshiba Satellite U305-S5097 Notebook

No Audio output device is installed. Help reinstalling audio!

The audio in my U305-S5097 Toshiba Laptop stopped working recently. I have realtek HD audio system in my laptop, and tried uninstalling and re-installing it, to no avail. I also tried shutting down the computer and removing the battery for a few minutes, which in the past worked just fine, although that didn't help this time. Also I have some general knowledge, I am not an expert, and have no idea on what else to do to fix this. Any ideas?

    FYI, my OS is Vista. I followed your instructions, however, I was unable to fix it via the System Restore option, because the oldest restore date was set after the problem happened. See that I am NOT a computer expert, so I'll do my best to outline the steps clearly.

    But I was able to fix it by doing the following:
    1. Uninstalled the Realtek Audio;
    2. Rebooted in Safe Mode;
    3. Go to device manager;
    4. Disable audio;
    5. Install now realtek driver and reboot in safe mode again;
    6. Go to device manager and see driver's version at this time you should have the updated driver.
    7.Reboot normally and enjoy

    Hope whoever has the same problem is able to fix the audio following either options. Dmyers2k: Thanks a lot for your help.

How long ago did the problem start? What operating system are you using?

If you are using Windows XP or Vista, one can do a System Restore. This works in the majority of cases that involve a software problem. If you are not familiar with System Restore, when the computer is booting up, press F* until the Windows Boot Screen appears. Choose Option 3 using the down arrow key on the keyboard, choosing Safe Mode. When the computer boots into Safe Mode, you will have the option of using System Restore.

If you are unsuccessful getting into Safe Mode, within Windows, click Start, the Run and type msconfig then press the button Sytem Restore.

Hello i have a toshiba satellite u305-s5097 laptop and the sound on my computer is not working

Well first off you should ensure that the sound Driver is installed and working properly.
You can do this by going to the Start Menu, Right clicking "My Computer",selecting "Manage", then going to "Device Manager". Are there any yellow exclamation or question marks? If so, you will need to install the Driver for that particular device. The drivers can be found at the Toshiba website, under the Support section. If this is the problem, let me know and i can help you find the correct driver.

U305 s7449 "no audio device instaled"

In Toshiba's support page there is a Realtek driver for Vista, and two of them, Realtek and Conexant, for 7.
Download and install the most appropriate one for your case.
Hope you are able to sort your problems out.

No audio

Open your computer then boot to safe mode(press F8), go to add/remove programs then uninstall the toshiba audio driver, also check on the Device Manager if it is still there then uninstall it. Reboot the computer to normal mode then install the toshiba audio driver again. Be sure to have the correct driver downloaded.
