I am trying to set up the voice activated software in Vista, but I get the message no recording devices found. I do have my microphone plugged in. I get the same message in Sound Recorder. When I open the sound icon in control panel, under recording it says no audio devices are installed.

Are you trying to record something? What's the issue? You obviously have drivers installed for the sound card if it works..
See sound recorder link here and here.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

Try using the instruction in this link to show the disabled and disconnected devices. You right click the speaker icon, choose Recording Devices, right click an empty area in the dialog box, then check show disabled devices and disconnected devices. This should bring up the microphone, and you'll be able to enable it. Here's another link with similar instructions and discussion of the mixer controls.

How to free download dell xps m140 laptop audio drivers plz tell me

You can download the drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Tag label is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where the specific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Click on this link to download the drivers: -

After the logo flashes, press F8, repeatedly, until a white-over-black "boot menu" is displayed. Choose "Safe Mode", to see if this "minimal" version of Windows will startup successfully.

Need drivers to run windows 98se on dell xps m140

Microsoft (and Dell) stopped supporting Windows 98 a few years ago -- it lasted for over TEN years! So, it is *NOT* likely that you will find drivers for any computer that was "designed for Windows 2000" or "designed for Windows XP" or "designed for Vista".

So, in general, it is a _bad_ idea to connect any computer running Windows 98 to the Internet -- Microsoft has issued many "security-fixes" in the 4 years after they stopped supporting Windows 98 and Windows ME.
