How quickly does it shut off? Is it reaching the turn off psi? or is it immediate.
If it is immediate then it is probably a power supply issue.
Air compressors are power hogs. For instance, a compressor may work fine on an outlet using the supplied power cord, but plug it into an extension cord that is insufficient for it and a repeat of your problem will occur. If you use an extension cord make sure it is made just for this kind of application. Also, if possible, give the compressor a dedicated circuit.
Another problem might be your unloader valve not working correctly. This reliefs the pressure inside the pump after the motor has stopped. it would sound like the pump is working extra hard at start-up.

Wow thanks alot mate! my compressor died yesterday and i had no idea what was wrong, i removed / cleaned check valve and regulator and was about to remove compressor / motor and take apart, also contemplated replacing relay / capacitors!

you saved me all the hassel, i was using a 10amp extension cord ( 20 meters ) on my 10 amp compressor, it worked for about 1 week this way but now it only works when i plug it directly into the wall!

thanks again!

Where is the reset button on sears air compressor #15364

if your compressor has a reset button its going to be right next to where the power cord goes into the motor , most times there red but not allways , also air compressors use a demand switch as well , there usually is a manual off lever on the side of these , this will interrupt the automatic start feature of the compressor and wont allow it to run , just follow the power plug wire the little "possibly grey " box it comes too is the demand switch

Why wont the motor kick in and set off the reset button

The circuit breaker is to protect your compressor most times the its a problem by to less oil inside because of fall over during transport or operate with the powerplug instead of the pressure switch.
Than it has no pressure release and can not come to turned round
he needs to blow off by pressostat (pressure switch)before it can free start , BUT it can also happens that your capacitor is broken then there is no start direction and then there is also no start only humming sound

Dewalt d55155 compressor runs to 60 lbs then acts like not enough power and shuts down

Looks like it's an oiled style compressor. Is it getting pretty hot by the time it hits 60psi? Might be low on oil, or the oil has been contaminated with water from condensation. If that's the case then what is happening is the compressor is causing too much resistance for the motor to turn it because of the excess friction. This is could be what is causing it to shut down prematurely.

Beverage Air MT17 cools sporadically. I turn the temp control setting to 5 and it will go down to 28 degrees F and the next day it will be at 55 F. I have to turn the control knob to off position then turn...

Low refrigerant would make it inefficient but if it chills to 28° it can't be that bad. I think you have a control issue. The compressor runs when you reset to off & on, then chills until it satisfies the thermostat, then shuts off. But then is not starting again when the temperature rises. You'll need to follow the control wiring to see what contacts are open and not passing power to the compressor. Control wiring is typically 24v ac or 115v ac. There's also the possibility that the compressor is tripping out on overload at 28°. You effect a reset when you turn it off, then on.

Hey there. I am having problems with my Emglo Dewalt d55151 compressor. I have taken it apart and and cleaned everything up. The reason I did all this was..because the cold start valve stays open and its...

The cold start valve will close when volume of air from compressor is sufficient to overcome spring under pin (allows the motor to come up to speed). Evidently your compressor is producing very little air. Usually the problem is leaking or broken reed valves or gaskets. Remove the head and look for torn/ leaking gaskets and replace as needed. Examing the reed valves and seats and look for broken cracked reeds or worn seats. Some of the valve plates used in Dewalt compressors are made of aluminum and would fail. Parts are available at or local dewalt service center. Good luck with your repair.

Hi what happens is i turn on the compessor it hums only then the thermal cutout cuts out after 10 seconds or so i turn off reset thermal cut and try again same thing happen thank in advance

you may be drawing too much current thru cord causing relay to trip, plug compressor cord directly into 20 amp circuit. As these tools get older and used the motor windings get hotter. Try pumping up with no pressure in tank and tank bleed valve open. I have experienced this dozens of times with many makes of small to mid-sized compressors.

Doe not run. is there a reset button

Yes there is a reset button on the motor.
You can see it from the front of the compressor but it is a little hard to see and get to so you will have to get it at eye level to get a good view.
These will normally trip is you have low current or are running the compressor on an extension cord.
