Hello,
The ice build up is due to a defrost issue whereas either the defrost thermostat, the defrost heater, or the adaptive control has a fault condition. The fan basicly blows the cold air from the evaporator coil into the refrigerator. You could have a defective defrost thermostat that could be causeing your issue. With a multimeter perform a continuity test on the defrost thermostat and defrost heater this way you can assure the thermostat is working properly. Here is also a link that can also explain more in depth about a defrost issue as well. Click this link http://www.applianceoutletservice.com/appliance-care-tips/refrigerator-tips/refrigerator-defrost-system-information.htm If you have any questions message me back I await your reply Thanks Rick.
p.s If you never have any ice build up on the evaporator and seeing how the evaporator is what produces the cold in the freezer compartment where is the ice forming is it starting at the thermostat and creeping upwards to the fan? Have you looked at the diffuser which is the damper door on the rear of your refrigerator that opens and closes letting the cold air into the refrigerator side? I await your reply Thanks again

Call out the warranty supplier. Where is the noise coming from? If no warranty, check the electrics to the compressor and fan. sometimes the noise is the fan. Also switch off overnight and leave doors open. When restarting, if the noise has gone it will have been the internal fan hitting on ice buildup.

Samsung RM255LASH the fan is get loud and stops when the door is open. Is this a fan issue, if so how do I replace it?

There is an ice building inside the fan compartment. You need to unplug the unit for about 3 hours with the door open to slightly melt the ice buildup. Then remove all the shelves and the back panel to get to the fan compartment and clean out all the ice buildup.

Do you see any frost or ice buildup on the back wall of the freezer? Look in the vent slots also to see if you can see any ice behind the panel. Also, is the fan blowing in the freezer?

The freezer side is very cold but in the refrigerator not much cold.

Check evaporator fan inside the freezer
Check condensor fan underneath in back
Check for ice buildup in the evaporator coils (Defrost Problem.)
Also ice and/or frost on the back wall of freezer (defrost problem)
Check air vent for ice block from freezer to refrigerator inside the fridge.
Should have low air volume to fridge from freezer.

If this was helpful please rate me.

The freezer works great, but the refrigerator isn't cooling properly as of yesterday

Check the vents coming into the frig from the freezer and with the fan in the freezer blowing feel if there is any air blowing into the frig., if not then check for ice buildup in the freezer. sometimes the ice will block the fan and or vents. Defrost if there is frost and ice buildup.

Freezer constantly produces ice buildup along the vents and fan blades inside are striking the ice buildup. Why wont the unit defrost? Also produces large chunks of ice from the ice maker during this time....

Refrigerator side doesn't keep things cold, just cool, despite having it on the coldest setting and the cold vent open between the freezer. The freezer is working fine.

Look on the back wall of the freezer for a ice buildup. If there is ice you have a defrost problem. The defrost timer is in the fresh food section inside the control panel. The defrost heater and defrost thermostat are behind the freezer back panel inside the freezer.
Also check the freezer fan. If there is no ice buildup in the freezer the freezer fan motor could be bad.

Refrigerator not cool freezer working

Rick,

This is the generic answer. Use the hair dryer (below) and reset the defrost (look for instructions from Sea Breeze)

Most of these units work with the freezer providing all of the cooling and a thermostat in the refrigerator section controlling a fan in the freezer (where the fan directs cold air from the freezer section to the refrigerator section via a duct in the back).

Look at the rear area of the refirgerator and locate a vent. This vent receives cold air from the freezer to the refirgerator. If you feel cold air coming out of this vent, then there may be no problem, just wait a few hours and recheck the refrigerator temperature.

Look at the rear area of the freezer and locate a vent. This vent provides cold air from the freezer to the refirgerator. Shine a bright light into this vent. You should see fan blades (possibly black plastic). If there is ice on the blades, then you have a defrost problem, and look to other posts on this site for how to manually defrost (or reset the automatic defrost). If the fan blades are rotating, then there is probably a blockage in the duct. Direct a hair dryer (warm setting) through the rear freezer vent and check to see if there is very warm air flowing out of the refrigerator vent (which indicates that the duct is not blocked). While using the hair dryer, you may be able to see the fan blades rotating.

If you do not feel warm air flowing out of the refrigerator vent, then run the hair dryer for a few minutes. (this was my problem, I saw no moisture drip from the vent, which led me to believe that it was more of a dry ice buildup, or that the ice was evaporated (desublimed to be technical).

If there is air flow and no ice buildup on the fan, then reset the automatic defrost. If this is not your solution, either the thermostat or the fan motor is the problem.
