SOURCE: Replaced lamp and now can't get a picture

Hi Sally Jo, Unit powers on and works properly for a while then shuts off with a red lamp LED (lamp error). Suspect bad lamp part # 915P020010 2. Lamp enable line at J14 pin 6 does not switch to 5 volts after turn on, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Light Engine part # 939P977010 3. At power on the lamp turns on and off three times and then the unit shuts down with a red lamp LED (lamp error). Replace the Light Engine part # 939P977010 4. Check for 12-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 4 on the Engine Driver PCB, if missing check for an open F9A09 on the Power PCB, if it is open replace F9A09 part # 283P127060 and the Light Engine part # 939P977010 5. Lamp enable line at connector J14 pin 6 on the Engine Driver PCB switches to 5 volts after turn on but does not go back to 0-volts (low) after 5 seconds, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Light Engine part # 939P977010 6. Check for 5-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 1 and 2 on the Engine Driver PCB if missing replace the Power PCB part # 934C148001. Hope this helps!

Failed caps on the power supply will cause that. The V26 Power pwb repair kit will usually correct that issue. Its available from www.tvrepairworld.com the kit contains the capacitors and the CD with instructions.

SOURCE: I have Mitsubishi WD-Y57 DLP.

I have the same TV. Mine is almost 3 years old. From what I've learned you should try to reset the TV. There is a small button in the front input compartment. Use a pen to push that in and wait for the green light to stop blinking. Then try the TV.
If that does not work you probably need a new lamp. Apparently the lamps only last for a couple years on average. Having to replace them can really add to the cost of buying/owning one of these TV's

I have a Samsung PN50C490B3DXZA and it turns off and on by itself in about three minute cycles. Any Suggestions?

t looks like you have checked the switch for the lamp cover, which would be my first guess.. Also try removing the lamp and re-placing back into the TV. May be a faulty connection.

To be honest with you, to me it seems like it's a faulty lamp... I've had a similar problem on a TV where when the TV is cold it would turn off, but after turing it back on every 5 minutes, it would warm up and start to move again... The problem was a faulty bulb... But the owner had switched it on and off so many times back to back that the ballast had to be replaced as well!

If not, it would be a faulty ballast. Those are the only two things that could be wrong with your TV in my mind. Your cheapest and fastest diagnosis is to buy a replacment lamp... even if it isn't the problem, you will not lose because you will need a backup lamp in the life of your TV!

Make sure you buy an original philips bulb. I think www.discount-merchant.com is a great reputable source. For $129, you can't lose. I call on these guys all the time. They will ship to you the same day and you will be able to diagnose further in less than a week. If it is the problem, you can call samsung and claim your lamp under warranty and they will replace the faulty one with a new one (but it will take 8 more weeks).. The new one could be your new replacement!

I don't recommend getting an aftermarket/OSRAM/LTI lamp... You may experience the same problems.

Hope all this writing was helpful!

Samsung DLP turns on and off - cycle repeats

make sure put the lamp door back before trying to turn it on because they have switches on them that allow the tv to turn on. If that is ok you probably have a bad ballast.
Call a local tv repair shop to further diagnose the problem.

Yes you have a bad lamp. Unfortunately, I have noted that many dealers either "forget" to tell the customer that the lamp will require replacement, or they overstate the expected life of the lamp. The usual life of a lamp, as stated by Sony is 4000 to 8000 hours. There are 3 factors that effect lamp life:
1) the number of times the TV is turned on and off. Every turn on works the lamp very hard, so to make the lamp last longer, limit the number of turn on/turn off cycles. My rule of thumb is this: If you will be back to the TV within 30 minutes, leave it on.
2) Proper ventilation. In general the TV should have at least 6 inches of space on all sides to properly cool.
3) Power loss. If you have frequent power outages, buy a small UPS for the TV. The TV requires a "cool-down" cycle where the fans run to properly cool the set. If the cooling cycle is interrupted, it can effect lamp life.

Replace the lamp with and original Sony lamp and vacuum any openings you can see that are dusty and you should be good to go. Be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!

XL-2100U lamp cycles on and off

Hi

I recently had a similar problem after replacing my lamp the set would work for 22 mins then go into standby for 30 sec then come back on, then repeats, I decided to experiment with the lamp housing, I removed the new lamp, unscrewed the top of the lamp that holds the actual bulb then switched out the main housing (bottom part) with the original housing, that seemingly has corrected my problem, you may want to try if the replacement lamp did not come from Sony...good luck

Its the lamp that needs replacing. It will run for a couple of seconds and then it would dim or turn off.
