If ALL of your USB ports are acting up there is a problem with your USB controller built into your motherboard. You can try going to the device manager and re-installing it after rebooting. I would perform a virus scan before I did that if I were you.

Have they ever worked? What happened just before they quit? Have you tried restoring your system to a time when they did work?

You might be drawing too much power from the usb port, if you're not using a powered usb hub.
Unplug all your usb devices. Go to the device manager and uninstall the usb controllers, then reboot your system and they will be reinstalled. connect the usb devices one by one and try to ascertain which is causing the problem. Some powered devices like printers can conflict with devices that require power from the port, and sometimes there are driver conflicts that can be resolved through the use of a hub, or connecting the devices to different ports or in a different sequence. You may also need to update or reinstall drivers for usb devices such as the PCI bridge. Please see this link for more info on troubleshooting usb. And this for possible cause.
For further reading, see here and here.
If you work through that and still have trouble, write back with the results and we'll help you to sort it out.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

If they were working before, just reboot. If they never have, I would reccomend contacting whoever you bought the computer from and asking if it's under warranty.

Im running win7, and it does not recognize this device which is a usb hub 4 port

A lot of times it won't recognize these devices until you plug something into them. Have you tried plugging in a flash drive, printer, etc to see if it's recognizing it but not showing it?

How to fix ?USB device not recognized? error in windows

Are you getting a “USB device not recognized” error whenever you plug in a USB mouse, keyboard, or other USB device? I love USB and have 5 ports on my computer so that I can connect my mouse, keyboard, camera, phone, and printer to it all at once!
However, last weekend, my computer stopped recognizing my USB devices! The strange thing about it was that the USB ports were not bad because all of my devices were still getting power to them. I could still charge my cell phone without a problem!

c24d32d.png

So I started with the normal fixing methods, including uninstalling the drivers for my devices and reinstalling them. That didn’t work! Next I tried System Restore thinking that maybe I had installed something and it caused a conflict with the USB system drivers. That didn’t work!
I read online that in order to fix this problem I should go to Device Manager and uninstall all of the devices under USB Controllers. Restarted the computer, reinstalled the USB drivers, but the problem STILL did not go away!
You may also see in Device Manager that the device shows up as an “Unknown Device”. 42b721d.png
So how did I finally fix the problem? Well, apparently it’s a super simple solution! No need to edit the registry, uninstall drivers, or anything of that sort.
Simply UNPLUG YOUR COMPUTER FROM THE POWER SUPPLY. Yes that’s it! Note that this does not mean just turning off your computer because modern computers don’t really turn off when you press the power button as the motherboard still gets power.
First to explain, the motherboard is where all of hardware of the computer is connected to, including the USB ports. Sometimes the motherboard needs to be “rebooted” also because something can go wrong, i.e. all your USB ports suddenly stop working. The small microprocessor on the motherboard will reload the drivers and your USB ports should be back to recognizing all devices!
So first turn off your computer using Shut Down or pressing the power button and then UNPLUG it from the wall outlet. Let it sit for about a minute and then plug it back in.
Hope this helps someone fix that pesky “USB device not recognized” Windows error!

Msg which i get :- one of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it. try reconecting the device. if windows still does not recognize it, replace the...

In most cases this message is fairly true and accurate. Whatever it is that you plugged in is most likely broken. Two things you can try to test this: 1. Plug it into another USB port in your computer, if it is the same message, move to step 2. If it works, then there may be something wrong with that USB port on the computer. 2. Try the device on another computer. If you get the same message, the device is probably broken. If it works, then most likely there is something wrong with the USB ports on your computer. Let me know if you need more assistance.

I have plugged it in and it my computer will not recognize that the USB is even plugged in, but it does charge the camera.

Try all the different USB Ports on your computer, sometimes certain ports can 'glitch' and not recognize the device that you've plugged in. If you've tried plugging it in all the ports and your computer still hasn't recognized the camera, re-install the driver software for the Olympus SP800UZ.
If all else fails, you can also contact Olympus customer service, they're quite prompt and helpful.

Check it on another computer. if it still doesnt work then your backup is gone. if it does work maybe you should take it in. also try other accessories in that same port. if other stuff doesnt work then you'll probably need to fix the port. also check the drive on any USB ports in the back of you pc.

Not recognized by PC

First off.. Make sure your software and drivers are up to date...

Second, try re-installing Windows Media Player or if you have WMP 10 installed, try upgrading to WMP 11.

Also, if you plug in something else to your USB port, does the PC recognize it? Or, if you try your GoGear on another computer, does it work ok?
