Question about Washing Machines
If this is a Kenmore or Whirlpool washer less than 20 years old it may be a motor coupler. This part couples motor to transmission. It can also be a transmission that has a bad seal that is leaking oil onto the clutch. In this case you need a new transmission and a clutch.

The problem could be several different things depending on the make or model. quick answer would be to replace the belt(s). after a while belts stretch and become worn. not so quick answer would be a problem with your transmission and or motor.
