The reset is leaving it unplugged for about a half hour. Then give it a try. Make sure it is on the basin, as it will not turn on off of the basin.

No reset but on the newer E2 if you unplug the machine and plug it back in this will reset the computer.

Rainbow E series cannister wet/dry vacuum

When using a rainbow vacuum it is important not to overfill the water basin with water as it can splash up to high and cause problems at the seperator. The seperator is the metal piece that is located at the bottom of the unit when you take the water basin off it is up inside the cannister. This piece is one of the most important pieces in this machine as it is designed to bring in the air and dirt with out letting the dirt get past it as well as keeping the water out of it as well. Keeping the water level below the plastic marker in the middle of the water basin will help to keep this from happening. When you are done cleaning with your rainbow it is crucial that you remove the seperator by un doing the hand tightened nut at the bottom of it. Hold thr seperator in one hand and turn the bolt to the right. This is the opposite way to undo normal;nuts or bolts but because the separator spins at a high rate of speed it is what is called "reverse threaded".Once you get the nut off the seperator should just come right off easily by pulling it straight down. When you get it off you must take a toothbrush(provided when ou purchased) and you must scrub this clean in order to keep from any dirt or dust getting up into the motor.Scrub the seperator as well as the area that it covers up while installed.this needs to be done each and every time you finish with the machine as you do not want to leave it because it will become rusted right on and it can break the shaft if you have to turn it to hard and if the shaft breaks it can get very costly.Rainbow does not come with a manufactures warranty only a distributors warranty and if you can not find the dist. that sold you the unit you have no one to honor the warranty. This information is stated right in the users point is if anything goes wrong with it it is most likely going to come out of your pocket. Though the manufacturer is still available the distributor go in and out of business all the time so be aware.
You must also dump all the water every time you finish using your rainbow as it will cause condensation to get up in to the seperator and rust things together. do not store it with the basin that hols the water attached. I hope this will keep your rainbow's running longer and better for years to come.

Rainbow vacuum is spraying water onto floor

This is usuallly one of two things. Crack in water basin. And the seperator underneath needs to be taken off and cleaned with a tooth brus between each of its fins. Their are alot of fins dont miss one.

How do I remove the seperator to clean it?

Sometimes the separator can get stuck. Once nut is removed, take a small flat screw driver and get under the lip of the separator to remove.

Rainbow Overflow .. HELP

Hi, there is no reset button on a Rainbow vacuum. There is a safety switch on all E series and E2 series Rainbow vacuums, that keep it from running without the water basin on it.
If you have any more questions let me know. I am a Rainbow seller, and a Rainbow expert also.

Thank you,
One other thing, water sucking through your vacuum should not hurt it. It is not good though, but will not make it not run.

Thank you again,

My Rainbow SE vacuum was working fine until I ran over the edge of a rug and it went in to the nozzle. I immediately switched the vacuum off and proceeded to move the rug. When I tried to turn the Rainbow...

hello lilbutmunch1,
The brush is motor/belt driven so you probably either broke the belt or it shifted off the motor or brush shaft. I suggest you unplug it,flip it over and look for screws that hold the baseplate together.. remove those screws and seperate the baseplate to gain access to the brush and motor head. Once open, it should be fairly obvious what the problem is.. a broken belt, a belt that has shifted or the brush won't spin freely due to an obstruction. Hope this helps..

My Rainbow stopped running

I took my unit apart to clean it. I was careful to put it back the same way. Now it won't start.

I Have an Older Rainbow (i think it's a d4)
my Old roommate ran it once without water.
it Still works now (with water), but
it's Very noisy on start up
Also I Can't seem to remove the separator (no instructions) but the nut at the end of it appears to free spin the motor when i try to turn it.
Can I Take this apart and Clean/lube it? And if so how? Or is this thing on its last legs? Thanks

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Rainbow E Series Canister Wet/Dry Vacuum. The Rainbow D4 is an older Rainbow Vacuum and the part where the separator is part of the armature, the separator should be able to be removed and that might be one of the things making noise. As normal maintenance the separator should be removed and cleaned after every use and re-installed, then place a newspaper or towel under the motor unit and turn on the Rainbow and spin the moisture out of the motor unit. This should be done every time you use it. Other wise the Rainbow has 3 fans in the bottom of the motor and if they are weak they will make noise from the motor unit as well. Watch out… the repair of the Rainbow D4 may exceed the cost of a new motor of which will solve your problem of noise and separator --- compare the cost and the labor and make a decision.
