Question about Philips Magnavox 32PS55S 32" TV

1 Answer

Philips Magnavox TV turns itself off and on

Model # HD2528C122
Last night the TV turned itself off and on repeatedly. Each time we turned the TV back on it would immediately shut off. Using the buttons on the TV itself we found that the power button is doing nothing but bring up the channel display. The 'Volume Up' & 'Channel Down' buttons turn the set off but it will instantly turn back on. The other buttons work fine. The sound is gone. Remote control doesn't want to work for it (it's a Direct TV remote which still controls the satellite box perfectly fine).

SOURCE: Sound control or lack thereof

You have a corruped EEprom. A very common problem for this TV! See a tech...there are six different EEproms for this TV and he will have to read IC001 and IC 1001 to find the right EEprom!

SOURCE: Controls not working on Philips 28" TV

We had this problem with a 28PW6515. The control would work for 30 seconds after switching on, then nothing. It was diagnosed as the "glue chip" which handles all the control functions. About £200 to fix it as it's a surface mount chip.

SOURCE: TV Volume turns down by itself - Philips 29PT8319 Matchline 27"

Most likely the volume down button on the front of the TV or the switch that it activates is sticking. Should be an easy fix otherwise.

Samsung TV model LN32A450C1DXZA, after turning the TV on it will turn itself off shortly after and then turn itself back on shortly thereafter. Then it repeats that several times before staying on.

Hi there,

If the tv is still under warranty, this can be repaired at no charge.

However, if not under warranty, you will need to have the CAPACITORS on the main power supply circuit board tested (or replaced).

The capacitors responsible for the power supply can sometimes fail - open the back panel. If the capacitors on the main power supply board look too fat, or signs of burning near the solder joints, then you've found the problem.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Scott

Magnavox 19" TV shuts itself off.....won't stay on

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps
