Kenmore elite 110.47781701 - main drum bearing gone

Main bearing for drum has a squeak that started of slow and over 2-3 months has grown to be load and likely a huge problem. It is no longer a squeak but we stopped using it because the bearing is obviously totally wiped out. We want the repair and place parts ourselves

SOURCE: Calypso kenmore elite - problems trying to wash a load

This is usually a symptom of a bad motor control board which located under the console. I had the same problem. You can open the console by removing the three screws in the back and lifting from the rear first. The console will pop off. In addition, if you look along washer top front edge in the seam there is a retaining clip about 2 inches in from each side. Using a putty knife, push in on each clip while lifting and the top should pop up. There will be a tech sheet affixed to the front wall of the washer between the wash tub and case. This tech sheet will give you all the guidance necessary on how to perform tests to prove whether or not the motor controller is at fault, or if the pump is at fault. I believe you may have a motor controller problem, though. Another possibility is getting something caught in the drain pump reservoir. This could binding the pump. Let me know if any of this is helpful to you.

SOURCE: Squeak in Kenmore HE 2plus front load washer when drum spins

We opened the top of the washing machine and there are some suspension springs.
All it needed was some lubrification. Prior to putting the top back on we put a load in
and watched it and there was no more noise.

Kenmore elite heavy duty king-size capacity model 110.2302: tub spins, but makes a loud banging noise as if the load is off-balance, even when there is no load

I'm sorry to say, this almost certainly means that the main bearings on the drum have failed. This is NOT a job for the uninitiated DIY enthusiast as it will mean stripping the machine and removing the drum from the chassis, splitting it, removing pressed in bearings and then sourcing and re-fitting new bearings.

To be frank, the cost of a bearing set (if they are replaceable , and most are) will be about £20 (($30) or so. But its a long and horrible job if you haven't done it before. I know professionals who claim they can do a bearing change in under an hour, I've done a few and it takes me about 2 hours by the time I

My Kenmore elite front load washer leaves tan stains/marks on many of our clothing. Is this mildew/ fungus problem. I wash with hot water and vinegar approx. 1 a month.

this sounds like the bearings are wearing out, this can cause the grease between the bearrings to come into the washer,to check the bearrings open the door and you will see the silver drum inside place your hand at the top of this and gently lift it up if you feel a knocking noise then thats a sign that the bearrings have gone, hope this helps you.rgrds, paul

Water drains during spin cycle, but tub does not spin and appears to have dropped down. Machine does aggitate.

If you can move the tub by hand laterally - the rear main bearing has likely failed - or the drum rollers are worn.

Squeak in Kenmore HE 2plus front load washer when drum spins

Squeaking noises are hard to find unless u open it and pin point where its coming from.. you can open the back cover if you are comfortable doing so.. let it run to see if you can heard... sometimes the bolt holding the pulley to the drum is loose and need to be tighten. Other possible is the shocks came loose or when install new.. the shipping materials were not remove..

Kenmore front loading HE3 makes knocking sounds during spin cycle

Ours started knocking several months ago and then progressed to a high pitched sound when in the spin cycle. I manually turned the drum and heard and felt a bearing roughness. I lifted the drum assembly and felt a fair amount of play, which I think the initial knocking noise came from. On the sears web site a new rear drum mount cost 293.00. Today we went and bought a LG model wm2455hw at Home depot, on sale until 2/20/08. I couldn't see paying to repair a machine that only lasted four years.
