Question about Whirlpool 21.0 cu. ft. Top Freezer Refrigerator with IceMagic Plus Ice Maker

Water always inside refrigerator sometimes ice forms

I have a '97 Roper side by side. It "Does Not" have a Ice Machine.. Every 2 weeks I have about 1/4 inch of water inside my meat storage container and both my bottom veggy drawers. Sometimes I'll find a tuperware bowl that was hidden in the back with Ice formed on its lid. Can you tell me why this is happening?.. Thanks a bunch.... =0) I have a whirlpool refrigerator with a top freezer (no ice maker). Lately I have found about 1/4 of water in the bottom of the refrigerator as well as some ice. Sometimes I have ice on top of containers at the back of the refrigerator shelf. I checked the drip pan at the bottom and it is bone dry. The crisper bins sometimes have some water in them as well.

Self-defrosting refrigerators usually dispose of the water generated during the defrost cycle via a tube or channel that directs the water to a pan at the bottom of the refrigerator. From the pan, the water normally evaporates. (See a more detailed explanation of this in the How Things Work section of our website).

If the tube or channel is clogged or obstructed, the water backs up and leaks into the inside of the refrigerator compartment. Then the water builds up at the bottom, inside of the refrigerator. When the water has built up for a time it may spill out of the front of the door opening. To fix this problem, clear the drain tube or channel and allow the defrost water to flow down to the drain pan.

In some refrigerators, the defrost water is intentionally directed down the back wall of the refrigerator, where it then flows to the bottom of the refrigerator compartment and out to a small drain--usually located beneath one of the drawers at the bottom of the refrigerator. If the drain becomes clogged or blocked, the water may back up. To fix this problem, clear the obstruction.

Another cause may be the following. The refrigerator may have doorframe heaters to evaporate any condensation on the cabinet frame. If your refrigerator is equipped with a switch inside that says “energy saver” or something similar, while running in that mode the door heaters are disabled. Turn the switch to the opposite setting and wait 24 hours. If the condensation disappears the problem is solved.

SOURCE: water always inside refrigerator sometimes ice forms

LadyBlues, This is a top mount freezer. What's happening is that the drain in the freezer area is frozen over. When the unit goes into defrost, the water is running into the refrigerator area instead of going down the drain hole. You will have to remove the freezer bottom panel and then the freezer rear panel to unclog the drain hole. It will be under the evaporator in the drain tray. Use some nice hot water from the microwave and pour it into the tray until the water flows down the drain tube. This should clear up your problem. Catriver.

Sounds like you might have a condensation problem. Is the fan in your freezer working? If not it's not circulating the cold air. If it is you might have frost on the lower rear wall of your freezer meaning its not defrosting like it should and restricting your air flow. Last but not least you have a damper door in the upper left corner of your fridge that allows the cold air from your freezer into the fridge to cool it, that might not be opening up. Any one of these things would cause your water problem and a warm fridge section

condensation is common to all fridges.cover all food, only put cold food in the fridge, make sure all door seals fit flush to cabinet.
and put kitchen paper under the veg in the veg box, some fridges have a drain hole on the inside back to take away some of the condensate.....(flush with clorine)

There is layer of ice that has formed at the bottom of the freezer side. Due to this there is a leak of water that appears every two or three days. I cleaned the layer of ice once and after 2 or 3 weeks...

Sounds like the drainage hole is blocked with ice, i normally take the back cover off the freezer and at the bottom you will see a build up of ice at the bottom, turn freezer off and carefully remove as much ice as you can, then pour some boiling water over the excess ice and in the middle you will see a drain hole make sure water then freely flows down drain hole. Other than that you could try switching your freezer off for 24 hours to clear ice.

Not making ice

There are several possibilities for this and the dual water control valve is one of the possible problems. Try pouring tap water into ice maker tray if no cubes are present. Allow it to freeze and if the cubes drop then the water control valve part Click Here=> 2188542-1 Then you have a possibility that the ice maker thermostat is at fault item number 27 in photo here=> 627985 Ice Maker Thermostat Sometimes the problem is located inside ice maker and buying new makes it more worth the cost than the cost of replacement parts. Water in bottom of refrigerator coming from freezer (not really sure of the exact model as I'm not home to double check).

If water appears on the floor in front of the refrigerator once or twice a day, it could be due to a clog in the defrost drain tube. The usual evidence of a clogged drain in a side-by-side refrigerator is ice under the bottom basket in the freezer compartment, in addition to a puddle of water on the floor. My ice maker has just about quit working for no reason that I can find

Check to see if water is in ice cube forming tray. If No then probably a bad water inlet solenoid. Water line to fridge goes to inlet solenoid.

Amana SBS Water and Ice maker issues

The water solenoid on the back of the refrigerator at the bottom is becoming clogged. There is only a very small hole in the diaphram of the valve. I suspect you have very hard water, or at least a fair amount of sediment in the water.
This valve will most likely need to be replaced by a qualified technician.
They sometimes can be cleaned, but it doesn't always work.

When you try to get ice does it make any sounds (clanks, whirring, grinding, etc.) like something is happening inside or is it just quiet? If quiet, see if you can look up inside the door switch area with a flashlight and press the button with your finger instead of the lip of a glass. Post more info when you have it and we'll go from there.
