Question about Whirlpool 21.0 cu. ft. Top Freezer Refrigerator with IceMagic Plus Ice Maker
I have a '97 Roper side by side. It "Does Not" have a Ice Machine.. Every 2 weeks I have about 1/4 inch of water inside my meat storage container and both my bottom veggy drawers. Sometimes I'll find a tuperware bowl that was hidden in the back with Ice formed on its lid. Can you tell me why this is happening?.. Thanks a bunch.... =0) I have a whirlpool refrigerator with a top freezer (no ice maker). Lately I have found about 1/4 of water in the bottom of the refrigerator as well as some ice. Sometimes I have ice on top of containers at the back of the refrigerator shelf. I checked the drip pan at the bottom and it is bone dry. The crisper bins sometimes have some water in them as well.
refrigerators usually dispose of the water generated during the defrost
cycle via a tube or channel that directs the water to a pan at the
bottom of the refrigerator. From the pan, the water normally
evaporates. (See a more detailed explanation of this in the How Things
Work section of our website).
If the tube or channel is clogged or obstructed, the water backs up and leaks into the inside of the refrigerator compartment. Then the water builds up at the bottom, inside of the refrigerator. When the water has built up for a time it may spill out of the front of the door opening. To fix this problem, clear the drain tube or channel and allow the defrost water to flow down to the drain pan.
In some refrigerators, the defrost water is intentionally directed down the back wall of the refrigerator, where it then flows to the bottom of the refrigerator compartment and out to a small drain--usually located beneath one of the drawers at the bottom of the refrigerator. If the drain becomes clogged or blocked, the water may back up. To fix this problem, clear the obstruction.
Another cause may be the following. The refrigerator may have doorframe heaters to evaporate any condensation on the cabinet frame. If your refrigerator is equipped with a switch inside that says “energy saver” or something similar, while running in that mode the door heaters are disabled. Turn the switch to the opposite setting and wait 24 hours. If the condensation disappears the problem is solved.

LadyBlues, This is a top mount freezer. What's happening is that the drain in the freezer area is frozen over. When the unit goes into defrost, the water is running into the refrigerator area instead of going down the drain hole. You will have to remove the freezer bottom panel and then the freezer rear panel to unclog the drain hole. It will be under the evaporator in the drain tray. Use some nice hot water from the microwave and pour it into the tray until the water flows down the drain tube. This should clear up your problem. Catriver.

Sounds like you might have a condensation problem. Is the fan in your freezer working? If not it's not circulating the cold air. If it is you might have frost on the lower rear wall of your freezer meaning its not defrosting like it should and restricting your air flow. Last but not least you have a damper door in the upper left corner of your fridge that allows the cold air from your freezer into the fridge to cool it, that might not be opening up. Any one of these things would cause your water problem and a warm fridge section

SOURCE: Water in veggie crisper and
condensation is common to all fridges.cover all food, only put cold food in the fridge, make sure all door seals fit flush to cabinet.
and put kitchen paper under the veg in the veg box, some fridges have a drain hole on the inside back to take away some of the condensate.....(flush with clorine)
it builds up on the glass much the same as your bathroom windows/tiles when you shower.....cold shiney surface...
