Question about Lexmark X2470 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I need to replace the part that the print cartridge locks into. This item travels back and forth along a round metal bar when printing.

I need to replace the device that the print cartridge fits into. I am not sure of the correct name for the item but it locks the print cartridge into place and travels back and forth when printing along a round metal bar. Thanks Waalt

OK..to make sure we are talking about the same item.  This the carriage that locks the ink cart in place and moves the print cart back and forth on a round silver color rod while it prints.  My problem is that the upper and lower snap locks on this item are broken and the ink cart will not lock into place.  The only option if see is to replace it but cannot figure how to remove the broken one.  Thanks

It is a Lexmark X2470.  I went to Lexmark web site and all you can do there is go in circles....it is not user friendly. I am just about ready to toss this printer in the trash.

The same thing happened to my printer....the tiny clips that snap in the cartridge broke off. No solution yet. Am going out today to get another one. at little more than the ink cartridges. Loved it til it broke.

WHAT IS THE CARRIAGE CARTRIDGE

There are two different types of carriage units that you may be referring to depending upon the model printer you have. Older types of photo printers had two distinct carriages.

1. Carriage referees to equipment that travel left to right in your printer.
2. One is for the print heads that receive ink from your print cartridges and dispenses it to the paper that you are using.
3. The print head carriage that travels back and forth to accept replacement ink cartridges. Most of the time it is tucked to one side or the other and only travels when the printer is opened in a specific way to expose it for ink replacements.

In newer systems the print heads are built into the Ink cartridge, each color has it's own print head.

So in answer to your question the carriage cartridge is more than likely the container that you put your ink cartridge into. Unless you have an older printer and then it would or could be the carriage for either the print head or the ink. They some times need to be replaced. I had to replace that cartridge in an old HP2500 for as long as we had the printer. (4 years). Great machine high maintenance.

The display window shows error 0502.

Hi there
Ok here is a fix
On the multi function machine seems to be a coating on the metal rod that the cartridges travel on. Just wipe this rod with a Kleenex and the problem seems to go away.
Somehow it presents a drag on the cartridges and causes an error.
Myself I would put a little bit of oil after on a cloth and wipe along the bar.

Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

Printer problem for a dell 924 printer

I have run across several Dell & Lexmark printers that after a while of working great, decide to have an "issue"... If you are printing more than 1 page, they will print the first page, then stop. The computer says "Cartridge Stall" and the printer says "Hardware Error 0502" or something similar, depending on the printer... Anyway, the message on the computer suggests making sure your cartridges are installed correctly, and nothing is blocking their path... After dealing with this many times, I have finally found a solution that seems to work!

There is usually a metal bar that the cartridges slide back and forth on... over time, this bar can become "gunked up"... Use alcohol pads to clean up the bar, and the surrounding area.... Clean out as much of the track as you can also. Tada... .No more cartridge stall!!

Canon MP530... After printing about 3-4 pages (all black) now it says that the black ink cartridge is clogged, have cleaned and deep cleaned and not helping! WHat do I do???

If the deep cleaning is not solving the problem you need to discard the offending cartridge. Is it a refill or aftermarket cartridge? Sometimes you can only reload a cartridge 4-5 times. Also, some aftermarket inks my not be up to specs for the printer.
If you can, use an OEM cartridge for the next go round to make sure the problem is cleared.
If this does not fix the problem, let me know.

Thanks.

Printer print nothing or blank

Please these and try to clean the print heads of the cartridges manually:
# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.

1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.

# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.

the metal bar that the cartridge holder travels on may need lubing

get 3 in 1 oil and put one or two drops of oil on the bar and then manually move the holder back and forth a few times to spread the oil

Problem with HP PSC 1210 printer

SOunds like your linear encoider is dirty.

If you look back along the rail that the carriage moves back and forth on, you should see a thin plastc strip...almost clear...going accross. You have to make sure that's clean. If you clean it real well with a lint-free cloth, and it still doesn't work, it needs to be replaced. They're probably not available and you might need a new machine.

Will not print / cartridges will not move back and forth

I had this happen to me the other night and I had to restart the printer to get the print job out of the que. You could try that.

While it's restarting, unplug the power cord and the usb cable. That should reset it.
