Question about Hatco TK-72 12-Slice Toaster
The Toaster burns toast even when set at lowest on both the dial and the small screw setting in the front. The plug seams to be extra hot. Do I have an electrical problem that might be drawing to many amps and causing the hot plug?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

I had the same problem with this model. Made sure it was unplugged, took the 4 screws out of the bottom as others did. Pulled off the handle for the toast push down and the knob for the darkness control (it took some effort but came off ok, if you can tilt the darkness knob opposite the number 1 it will come off easier, there's a hook-tab right at the 1 position).
My problem was with one of the points on the 4 copper tabs that come together as the toast is pushed down. The outer copper tab was slightly out of alignment when the toast was in it's latched position and broke the circuit making it never want to latch. I bent the problem one into alignment and solved the problem.

replace the timer - 25.00 pounds for a new one, or just take it apart and clean it with electircal spray cleaner then blow it out with compressed air. I did that, but it only lasted for six months and started sticking again, so now I'm ordering a new timer.

We have the same problem and it has been on all day, and credit to the toaster it has not yet burnt out an element, I am looking to replace the timer as I found that the pivot inside is on a plastic bearing and that has worn, I did find a timer on a web site but cant find it now.

Inside your toaster there are eight heating element plates six in the center and one in left end and one in right end.
Just switch on the toaster without any bread at maximum time and visualy inspect to see which side is becoming red and which not. Then you need to replace the element plates you see that they don't become red.
Remember that the two in center are the same called "CENTER" and the other two on ends are the same called "END"
They can easily be removed if you remove the bottom panel.

The timer can be rplaced by any good handyman. You can get a new one on ebay there are two types make sure you get the right one. Replace it before someone forgets to shut it off and the toaster smokes up the kitchen. Its a common problem with the dualits but the switch is not cheap and you can only get it from England. The good news is the replacement seems to be better made than the original
