CD magazine trapped in Ford CD changer, no power to release

Hi, I have recently had the head unit changed in my Ford Cougar from a standard 5000 RDS head unit to a JVC KD-G441. However this unit does not send any power back to the Ford CD changer in the trunk. And I have CD's trapped inside. Does anyone know how I can get the discs out without any power going to it?

If not, is there a way to get this head unit working with the Ford CD changer?

Hi, I think you misunderstood. I'm trying to get a Ford CD changer to work with a JVC radio. If it's possible.

There is a way to get it working with the ford radio as long as the ford radio is cd changer compatible. You can purchase an adaptor from a dealer of autoleads. They also have a website. http://www.autoleads.co.uk/ were you can find out if its compatible and what lead you need. As far as i can remember with the jvc changers there is a seperate lead for power for a changer which you have to earth to the body of the car aswell have you got this

oh sorry thought it was the other way around. Sorry this is not possible to do. There is no adaptors for this. To get cd's back. You've two choices. rewire old ford stereo back in and power up cd changer again to get out cd's. or take it apart. Hope it works out.

there are small drive belts that provide the power to operate the different parts to eject the CD magazine, i suggest you remove the covers and check these belts for slack/strech, it is a common reason for this problem

Hi
Open top cover, if the empty magazine was left inside the cd trays it can slide out into the playing area and jam the unit, check it like that anyhow. Sometimes you can see a small metal tab to release the magazine.

However Error1 means Battery inside CD Changer needs to be replaced.
And NO CD.CD error message means No CD in magazine or no magazine in CD Changer.

To fix the problem, disconnect the CD changer.
take off the top plastic slide cover,
with a small screwdriver slowly move the gearing so that the CD disc holder will move back to the load - unload position.
Pop out the CD holder.
Replace unit, reconnect the optic and power lead, switch on radio and the unit will work again.
grease the moving parts with light lubricant.

Thanks for contacting fixya.com

Whats a compataible 6 cd player to fit with a ford 5000 rds eon radio

Other than Ford CD players you can use Sony or Kenwood changers but you will need an adaptor, you can buy these as a kit from most car audio retailers.

Bose Lifestyle 30 6-cd changer magazine manual release?

hi, you can release the magazine by inserting a small flat head screwdriver in the slot and pushing the lever towards the back of the unit, this will release the cd but only if ther is not one stuck in the player as it will remain halfway between the mag and the cdplayer. don't force it to comae out. remember to obviously have the dorr to the player open before you try this.
