SOURCE: my pushbutton doorbell activates my neighbor's chime

in the chime box and remote you can change the setting for the remote signal that is picked up( refer to your manual for the correct settings) these will be a set of pin connections in the chime box and in the remote switch that will have to be set to another selection

Phantom bell rings on Siemens wirreless door bell chime jsjs-204, I do not have instructions


You may need to change the frequency of the chime. In this model, you need to remove the batteries from the receiver unit and wait for a while. Then replace the batteries. The doorbell unit should automatically set itself to a different frequency once you press the button, which will(hopefully) solve the problem.

It seems impossible to find the instruction manual for the doorbell. But see http://oddsnsods.net/blog/?p=68 who had a similar problem with a different Siemens model, which works on the same principles. (I can't seem to be able to remove the battery from the door bell unit on the jsjs204, but it reset itself after changing the batteries in the receiver).

To fix the issue you need to remove the batterys from both the bell push and the bell unit for 10 mins, then replace the batterys and then push the bell push so it can switch channels and be different from the house down the road

How do i fix my doorbell


99% of the time, you need a new doorbell button
Also check if any circuit breakers are tripped
Check GFI breakers in baths and kitchen

Real-estate lady answer: buy a new doorbell button and connect 2 wires on back of new button.
Doorbells are low voltage and not dangerous.
If screws are loose in the holes, break off toothpicks in hole so screws have something to bite.
You need small screwdriver:

Repairman answer
Doorbell problems have 3 parts
1) The button
2) The chime or bell located in house
3) The 12V or 24V transformer located in attic or basement
4) rarely the wiring because it's low voltage and does not get hot

1) start at the button.
Remove button from wall
There are two LOW-voltage wires on back of button
Remove 1 wire and touch other wire, copper to copper
Does doorbell ring? Do you see a spark?
If bell rings, then button is bad

2) Chime or bell doesn't ring when button wires are crossed
Take cover off chime
The button works, so have helper push button while you're looking at chime
Can you hear any noise? Have helper push button on-and-off
Chimes have 2 or 3 wires >>> 2 wires if only front door has button, 3 wires if back door also has button
Take one wire loose and scratch it across each of the other wires
Remember front button is held down (or front button wires are twisted together)
Can you see a spark when wires are scratched together?
Try this with more than one wire ... but don't mix up location of each wire
If you are getting a spark, then chime is getting power, but it's not working
Replace chime

3) Transformer in attic or basement looks similar to this:

Use a wire and scratch across both screws to see if you get a spark
If you get a spark ... and the crossed wires dont ring the chime... and there is no spark at chime, then there is a bad wire
If no spark at transformer, then check circuit breaker
At last resort, but new transformer at Home depot in the doorbell section near light department

The doorbell buttons and your receiver must be on the same channel. If you will get out the directions that came with your unit, they will describe the process to go through to reset the specific "codes" for your buttons and receiver.

I changed the batteries on my door bell, and it still wont ring


Troubleshooting
Chime does not sound:
• Make sure the doorbell button and the chime codes are the same (See pages
2 and 3).
• Check orientation of doorbell button battery (See page 3).
• Check the doorbell button and chime batteries, replace if necessary.
Batteries seem OK, but the chime does not work when installed:
• Do not mount the chime or doorbell button on metal or near metal studs. This
reduces the transmitter range. Use 1/4" to 1/2" (6 to 13 mm) wood shims to
move the chime or doorbell button off the metal surface.
• Don't mount the chime too close to ground level concrete slabs. This may
also reduce the range. Mount the chime away from the floor.
• Try different locations for the chime closer to the doorbell button. Also try to
orient the chime at a different angle to increase the range.
The range of the doorbell depends on location, temperature and battery
condition.
