Question about Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Silver Edition Graphic Calculator
For some reason my calculator is stuck in
Please install operating system now."
and after a duration of time it says:
Press any key to turn unit off. Then turn unit back on."
Suggestions please? It wont even let me connect to TI Connect now
The best way to solve this problem is to get a 2nd TI-84 to link into with the linking USB cable. Then turn on working calc press the 2nd button then link button (or the XTON) variable button. Scroll up to option G: SEND OS "DO NOT HIT ENTER YET" and then remove and replace one battery from the non-working unit. NEXT press enter on working unit to SEND OS.

IF you have trouble getting the calculator connect when you reinstall do these 2 things:
1. Use fresh batteries
2. Try doing it on another computer where you have not used TI-connect before. And be sure to install the calculator driver correct!
3. Be sure to have the OS downloaded onto this computer before connecting to the calculator.
Then you just use TI-connect. Go into to device explorer, and then it should find the calculator. press "tools" in the top bar, and use the TI OS download option. Select the calculator and the path where you have downloaded the OS to. Know it should start the transfer...

TI OS Downloader is a separate from TI Connect. After you have the TI software package installed, run the OS Downloader directly (not thru the TI Connect menu). Find the OS Downloader file, right-click it, and select 'run as administrator'. This is a solution for Windows 7 users who can't install or update the TI calculator firmware.

1) Download Operating System file from education.ti.com to your desktop.
2) Install all the TI software onto your computer (i.e. TI Tools)
2) Plug in calculator via USB cable. 3) Open the "TI OS Downloader" program. 4) Make sure you have the right calculator and cable type selected. 5) Locate the Operating System file on the desktop. 6) Click "Start Download" and wait. 7) Profit!

Had the same problem found a solution after hours of Trial and Error...
I have a TI-84 Plus Silver Edition which i bought from someone for $20 lol. Everything worked fine until i decided to upgrade the OS to 2.53. I started the update, everything seemed to be going smooth when BAM! Error at like 10%....So like i said, i spent hours looking for a solution i thought i'd never find...coming to the very last minute before i threw the piece of shyt out the window, i thought hmm lets put FRESH batteries and try it the whole installing os process on a different computer....so i got new batteries and install my the IT CONNECT program on a brand new lap top running windows 7, the laptop had no trouble detecting and installing my calculator....then the moment of truth, i installed the OS with ease...took less than 5 min =D....

Ok, I have solved the problem. For that I have reinstalled connection software last version in my language. Then I downloaded the latest SO version to my computer. The next step was to use an app to send the SO to the device. I observed my calculator only changed the bucle state when it was receiving the SO, indicating the percent of software received.. etc. , so I tried to do that and it worked. It wasn't necessary turning off it. Good luck.

Do as Guest says above. "Okay, get out the USB Cable that came with your TI-84, you will need it
Later, If you don't have one, go to somewhere like radio shack and tell
them you need a USB A to C cable. Go to Education.ti.com and get the
newest OS, as well as the software to install it, plug the USB cable into the computer
and calculator, initiate the transfer, and wait until the calculator
finishes recieving the file. I think this should help. If not I will
get back with a better one"
The installation software referred to above is called TIConnect. Download it and then run it. It worked for me!
