All of the switches seem to work except for the "On" switch (button). I have replaced the door switch with a new switch.

Would a bad float switch stop all functions or just the "on" button from cutting on.

did not work. the "Normal Wash" light is still flashing and the start button will not activate the dishwasher.

  • michaelwatki May 20, 2009

it's a no go. nothing happened. I have cycled this down for about an hour prior to our start of this conversation. Interestingly enough. the "Cancel Drain" button works and will drain water.

  • machadojr_fe May 19, 2009

We can only reply to you here

  • machadojr_fe May 20, 2009

Please try one more time pressing each one right after another in rabid succession until you have pressed each about 10 times. All the lights should light up and then go through a cycle with a rinse. Please let me know if this does not happen so we can continue.

  • machadojr_fe May 20, 2009

Ok then please check the lower arm and water inlet assy
Chances are they are plugged up and causing the malfunction

  • machadojr_fe May 20, 2009

No problem just let me know what you find and I will continue with you as soon as I see it

Float switch
The float switch is a small electrical switch that's located right below the dishwasher "floor." Above the switch, on the inside of the dishwasher, is a plastic cylinder that floats up as water fills the dishwasher. If this switch is defective, or if the plastic float gets caught or trapped in the raised position, the water can't enter the dishwasher. If the float switch is defective, you need to replace it.

HI,

First make sure the dishwasher is getting power. Check your fuse box for blown fuses. If you have circuit breakers, check to see if they are tripped. Make sure the dishwasher's plug is secure in the outlet.
If power is not the problem, take a closer look at some of the electrical parts of your dishwasher. The most common part to fail is the door switch.
A door switch is used to start and stop your dishwasher. It's a safety feature that won't allow water to flow with the door open. With a faulty door switch, there is a chance your dishwasher won't start at all.
Dishwasher door switches are about an inch long. They are usually black but can be red. There are metal prongs on the body of the switch called terminals. Some door switches have two terminals and some have three.
If your door switch is OK, check the timer assembly. This controls when and how long power is sent to other controls on your dishwasher. If these controls don't receive power, they won't work.
The timer assembly contains a motor. Check this motor as well. It is often cheaper just to replace the timer motor rather than the complete assembly.
My last suggestion is to check the cycle selector switches. These switches indicate cycles for washing, drying, and setting the temperature of the water. If one of your switches is the problem your dishwasher may not start.
Dishwasher cycle selector switches tell the timer which cycle to run by opening and closing electrical circuits. Most selector switches are six to eight inches long. They are usually black and have terminals.
By testing each one of these parts with an ohmmeter you should be able to determine why your dishwasher is not working. It is possible for other parts to fail but these are the most common parts to check.

Amana washer lid lock wont quit blinking

Your washer lid lock button is locked and lid was not put down before it locked, which is why the light is flashing. Therefore, push the "START" button until you see the lid lock button is off (Approx 3 seconds). Once it is off, then you can put the lid down and push the start button again, which will lock the lid into place. The washer will NOT drain or wash or spin unless the lid itself is in the locked position. If you were able to get the lid down and locked and it still doesn't work, then you need a technician to replace a wiring harness. However, you mentioned that the lid lock button was flashing, therefore, it stands to reason that your lid is NOT locked down.

My kenmore dw just stopped running thru cycles except drain

Hello, With the information you supplied I'm going to assume the light is blinking 7 times and pausing then blinking 7 times and so on. With the door cracked open hit the following button combination: -high temp wash
-heated dry
-high temp wash
-heated dry Then close the door and hit cancel. The pump will run for a few moments and then you should be all set. Hope this helps Mike

Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher LIghts are blinking....

I just read this for the same problem: push sanitize, then heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, cancel, then open and close the door. It worked. The dishwasher is running correctly even as I type this.
