Would like to add the scan option to the copier on my own

I leased this copier back in 2005 and now we are looking to purchase it but don't have the scan option installed yet. We would rather try and do this ourselves but I don't know where to start or to look for the product. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you

The scan option will need to co-term with your copier lease or you will need to pay cash.

If the products are available for your machine, you will need to add a computer interface unit and associated software. You will likely have to have a tech install and set up the interface, your own IT people can set up the computer side if you have people on staff.

Look at the cost of the upgrade verses the cost of replacing with complete equipment, as the set up and connection to your network would be included in the purchase price on the new unit. (If you are a good negotiator) and none of this is included when upgrading your current unit.

Also the systems are constantly improving, the new units have colour scanning on black and white copiers, although it doesn't print colour, it increases the usefulness of the scan feature.

Hope this is of some help.

Lease a Copier Vs. Purchase A Copiers - Pros and Cons

Today I am addressing the pros and cons of purchasing a copier vs. leasing a copier for your workplace. I was recently asked this question for the 5,000,000th time and I decided to answer the question publicly. If you feel like you have unique circumstances feel free to contact me directly to ask a question.
There are advantages and disadvantages to either acquisition process. There are several variables that will help steer you in the right direction to see whether purchasing or leasing a printer is right for your office. Whichever option you decide on, you can rest assured that Skelton Business Equipment will take excellent care of your machine with a recommended maintenance and toner contract.
  • Pros
    • No acquisition cost
    • Cheap monthly cost
    • Rotated new equipment
  • Cons
    • No ownership
    • Extended obligation
  • Pros
    • Instant ownership
    • No extended obligation
  • Cons
    • High initial cost
    • Potential for old non-functioning equipment
    • technology quickly becomes obsolete

Ask yourself these three questions:

1.) How long has our company been in business?
The credit approval process can be very sensitive to new businesses. Without 3 or more years in business the lease application will probably require a personal guaranty from the owner of the company. With that being said, it may make more sense to purchase a refurbished printer at a low cost, then lease a more robust, new printer down the road once the company has more established credit and higher printing volume.
2.) How much do we print?
Printers these days are designed to last! If you don't have a high volume of printing you'll probably get more bang for your buck purchasing an MFP outright. Most lease terms are 3 or 4 years, and if you aren't simply pounding your printer all day every day, then you should get a lot more than 3 or 4 years out of it. On the other hand, if you hammer your office equipment, it makes more sense to lease a machine so you'll get a new one at the end of the lease term and not have to worry about what to do with a broken down machine 8 years down the road. A headache is the last thing you need with office equipment, you have a lot of other things to worry about. And so do I.
3.) How much are we willing to spend out of pocket for a printer?
Large MFPs can are expensive. Leasing them is a great option for an office without a large budget. Most workplaces would function seamlessly with an MFP for around $200 a month, which would cost you nearly $7,000 cash. You could lease a machine that's out of your budget that will handle a larger workload than a system that was purchased outright.

With these questions answered you'll be on the right path to either purchasing or leasing a copier. If you're looking for a copier in Houston I give rock-bottom pricing, especially if the lead comes from this blog.

What Are The Dissimilarities Between A Lease Purchase And A True Tax Lease?

The primary difference is exactly what happens in the end of the lease term. Having a lease purchase, you'll own the gear for $1. Having a true tax lease, you've three options: You are able to renew the lease, return the gear or buy the equipment at fair market price.

Scan processing slow

Try making sure there is no power filter on the network line, and that the network line has a straight shot to the router without going through any other 5 port switches or anything. normally when the scans are slow, and the prints are slow, it's a cabling issue.

when you're ready to replace that old thing request a quote from Skelton!

I am trying to scan a page and it is telling me no scan options are available.

You don't say how you're trying to scan.

You can scan by pressing the Scan button on the printer control panel or by opening the HP Solution Center program and clicking on Scan.

If neither of these options work then connect and disconnect the printer cable and if necessary test a different cable.

If none of the above fix the problem, the printer control program is probably either corrupted or partially deleted, so uninstall the program and all its components in Add or Remove Programs and then reinstall the program using the Easy Install option.

Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Uninstall a Program) > highlight - Remove.

If you don't have the driver and applications disc, you can download them from: or your country specific HP site.

I hope this helps.

you probably don,t have the correct or all of the drivers installed.
The second possibility, is the software scanning program.
You could try 1 called paperport.
Hope this helps Mike@Compurepair.
