my insignia 42" plasma tv has a red field covering most of the screen, seemed to happen after a power outage, have been told a new Plasma Display Panel is needed at $200.00 to $400.00,have also heard that there are ways to use the remote and monitor buttons in a certain sequence to eliminate the red snow.are these non repair / PDP replacement methods real?

You can use the remote to enter into service mode, to fix minor problems and setting problems.

Regarding PDP, PDP means plasma repair panel, and replacing the plasma panel may fix the problem , but first the controller board and the Sustain boards must be tested to ensure they are not cause for the problem.

In your case the TV is faulty , and I do not think you can fix the problem just changing settings in service mode.

What you need to do is contacting a reliable repairer and having the parts tested, if problem is with controller or sustain boards the cost will be about $200, if it is the panel (PDP), probably above $400.

Do not forget to leave feedback.

thanks.

Red or Green sparkles on plasma TV cause by an aging Plasma DIsplay Panel (PDP) and sometimes you can get rid of it temporarily by adjusting the Y-sus & Z-sus voltages but it won't last and it will show up again.

To get to the point...your TV needs PDP replacement.

When tv warms up i get red dots in darker areas of screen

what you can do is take off the back pannel and there is a cord on the top of the board that looks like a computer board, there are many boards in the TV but the one I am talking about is twords the bottom where the video jacks plug in to the TV. Ok once you have located the pannel there is a cord on the top kinda tword the right side, it is many wires inside a black covering. What you need to do is just simply unplug it and plug it back in, do this as many times to try to get it to fix the problem.

Mine does not seem to be changing when it warms up, and I also get it on my digital cable as well as on any DVD's I play. Please help with any advise.
