If you are looking at the spool itself, turn it counterclock wise, without wineing string.

How do I replace string pull on 3.5SPLMA

take of the plastic cover on top. there should be 3 bolts that hold on the starter tin (cover) turn it upside down and pull rope all the way out. have someone hold the plastic wheel inside so it does not unwind. it has tension on it. cut the knot on the inside and pull the old rope out. wind the spring spool up all the way and back it off to the first time the hole in the spool lines up with the hole in the tin. push the new rope through the hole in the tin and through the hole in the plastic spool. tie a knot in the end of the new rope and push it in the knot hole. put the pull rope handle grip back on. let go and be sure it pulls out and retracts good. put back on in reverse order of taking off.

How do I replace the pull cord to my Poulan 446T PRO. It's a combination of a pole chain saw (8 inch) and a trimmer.

You will take the recoil assembly off the saw. You shoud see where the knot broke off the cord in the pulley. Put the cord through the case and the small hole in the pulley and tie a new knot. Count the number of turns it takes to take up the rope. There should be a small notch in the edge of the pulley you place the rope in to wind up the spring and not take up the rope.Add one or two turns more than you counted so the rope is coiled up snug then pull out the rope from the notch and let the spring retract it.

Makita line trimmer pull cord wont go in

hello sir, i'm guessing the rope is broken , first you'll need a c-clamp large enough to clamp the spooler, needle-nose pliers,a small tipped screwdriver and a new length of rope.the safest way is to remove the rewind assembly cover leaving the spooler in place in its housing. try to remove the old rope with neddle nose pliers ans small tipped screwdriver.next hand spin the spooler to achieve spring tension until stops back off enough to line holes up, place c-clamp to hold it in place, now try to fish the new rope into the hole in the knot recess, trying to guide it to the exit hole in the cover, ( it's easier to feed the rope if you singe the end of the rope with a bic lighter and form to a point )and with a small knot at the other end, pull the rope all the way until you can seat the knot into the knot recess.next tie a loop knot into the other end of the rope,so the end wont be recoiled all the way into the housing.with tesion on the rope gently remove the c-clamp and let the rope be drawed in.if it draws all the way to the loop knot, check to see if the spooler is full if so,( not too full where rope is binding ) pull the rope about a foot and re clamp the spooler and install the pull handle, if rope is too long you may have to cut to length. if it doesn't draw all the way to the loop knot and the spooler is not full than you may need to add anoyher revolution to the spring tension in the same fashion as described above.there are eisier ways but that evolves removal of the spooler and repacking the reciol spring.( not for the novice ). hope this helps,MrFixIt,thank you. hh

Replace starter rope on a tb70ss troy bilt trimmer. everything is off but the red plastic casing

you will need to flip the casing upside down and wind the pulley counter clockwise, it should be pressure on the pulley if not then it is clockwise, once you have wound it six or seven times, you will need to feed the pull rope from the outside in, there is a hole on the pulley where the rope comes through, while keeping the tension on the pulley, once the rope is through you will need to knot the end and burn the end of the knot, let go of the pulley it will wind the rope, pull on the rope a few times to make sure the knot is holding, then reassembly the unit. Hope this helps Tim

Starter rope on UST generator got behind wheel. Took cover off and spring unwound. Rewound spring inside starter rope wheel. Every time try to wind rope spool back inside cover and replace, inner spool...

Hi, W/D here.

Go at it from the other end. Take the handle off of the rope. If you have a fine piece of wire, attach it securely to the handle end of the rope; you'll use the wire to feed the rope back through in a moment. Wind the spring and starter wheel. When it's getting about as tight as you want it, align the knot hole with the shroud grommet. Feed the pull rope and wire through the knot hole, and out the shroud grommet, and pull the line all the way through, down to the knot. Catch the free end and put a slip knot in it, so it can't whizz on back into the reel. Attach the pull handle, and release the slip knot.
Best regards, W/D

My rope wont recoil on my Bolen BL 160 I have

the round rotating part with the nose is the clutch drum, it has a small torx screw down inside the center retaining it to the crankshaft, remove this screw, block the cylinder and remove the clutch plates. remove the engine from the housing and turn it around to access the spool and a metal plate that has a few screws holding it in. there is a push nut that looks like a serrated ring holding the spool on the housing, sometimes it can be carefully removed but usually it fails and has to be replaced, it presses back into place upon reassembly. Do not remove this ring if you are not replacing the spring or pulley!!! Simply install your new rope and using the spokes on the pulley gather some slack in the rope and wind up the pulley about 5 turns in the direction it rotates as if you were pulling the rope, while holding the tension on the pulley, extend the rope fully and carefully release the pulley while holding the tension with the rope by its handle it should retract normally

How to replace pull cord on ryobi 725r trimmer?

Before you start... transfer the handle assy to the new rope. Remove the old rope and install the new rope just like the old one. Make sure to tie 1 knot in the end of the rope so that the rope ded not pull out of the handle

-Remove the recoil assy.
-Remove the old rope.
-Wind the spool counter clockwise until it stops
-Back up the spool until the rope hole aligns with the rope guide. DO NOT let the spool unwind. It really takes 2 people to do this.
-Burn the end of the new rope with a match and very quickly while it is still soft. pinch the end of the rope to make it as small as possible.
-Thread the new rope through the rope guide and into the hole for the knot of the spool.
-Use a scribe or needle to lift and pull the new rope through the hole
-Tie 1 knot in the rope
-Pull the knot into the hole in the spool
-Let go of the spool and the rope will rewind
-Install recoil assy
-RETURN TO SERVICE
