Question about Televison & Video
There are two ways. First and the easy way is to buy a tape head cleaner tape. Don't get one that uses a fluid. Scotch make an excellent one.
The other method is actually much better. What you need is can of Servisol Video 40, which you can get on-line, or in places like Maplin in the UK, or Radio Shack if you are from the USA (image below).
You remove the top cover of the VCR. Then you spray any parts that the tape touches with the Servisol. You don't need a lot of spray. If you don't know which parts touch the tape, once you have taken the top cover off, place a tape in the VCR and watch it!
Make certain that the main head that spins is really clean.
To get the really bad dirt out, use a cotton bud soaked in Servisol.
When cleaning remove the power cord. Plus don't spray the electronics PC boards. You probably won't hurt them if you do. But just let it dry before you do power up.
Once you have cleaned it. Let it dry before putting a tape in. If you can see snow or sparkles on the picture, clean the spinning head again.
