Extending the range of my neatgear draft n with an apple

I have a netgear that is draft n. I want to extend the range to reach the family area. the netgear only reaches my bedroom and not the family area. Can I use Apple's aiport express base station, that is also draft n to act as a wireless access point and thus extend the range of my Netgear wifi?

many thanks for your quick reply.(i'm impressed). I'm not sure if netgear has wireless access points for draft n. I have the wrn2000. If there aew draft n access ponts then i guess i would have to research some more. And no i don't have the apple base station yet. I just visited an apple store today and they said that it will work...but the sales person couldn't assure me 100%.

Thank you for you comments. I will look around for a netgear access point. I guess it is better if it came from the same manufacturer. Five stars my man. : )

look, every company salesman will tell u tat it will work,,even i will tell u tat a linksys router doesnt work fine with a netgear access point..Actually it works best with same manufacturer{even a wireless adapter works best if the router is of the same manufacturer}moreover apple base station are designed for a complete different operating systems...its ur call sir,,one thing frankly,,accesspoints connection stability is less,,so no electronic devices working on the same frequency as tat of the router,,like walkie--talkie,,baby monitors,,

best of luck, keep me posted,, giv a good rating

It is time to read the manual, ....Configure it next to your wifi router first, then deplot it....if not work,,, you need to configure which signal channel work better in your area since there may be too many other routers or the "line of sight" between the device has decreased the signal too much...

I have one netgear wifi WN3000NP extender installed, works great, I am trying to hook up another one in my garage upstairs floor, can't seem to connect it? Can I have more than one?

I'm not an expert on these but from what I read I think it very unlikely that you will get 2 working successfully at the same time. I would be more inclined to use a home plug network extender (500mbs standard) there are many makes. These carry the network over your mains wiring.

Your connection is limited

What router and where is it that you are connecting the Extender to? An extender is not a router. You need a router to extend the wifi signal from.

Expand range extender

You can install a wireless range extender. Try a Netgear Dual Band WiFi Range Extender, this device extends the wireless range of your existing wireless router, it connects to your wireless router using a wireless connection without the need of a LAN cable.

Have you first established the connection between the Router and the Extender?
If so, have you connected e.g. a laptop to the Extender?
So if your WLAN networks SSID is NETGEAR, the WLAN network of the Extender is NETGEAR_EXT and you have to connect the laptop to NETGEAR_EXT.
Then you have to open your favorit internet browser and have to type in, which I guess is a buildin Setup-Assistant.If this doesn't work, make sure, your laptop is configured, to get an ip address automatically via DHCP.

Not able to connect the extender to my apple time capsule? no wps button. can i use this extender?

Hi, yes you will be able to use the Netgear range extender with the Apple Time Capsule, provided you configure the Time Capsule's wireless settings based from the wireless security you have setup on the Netgear router or extender. No need for WPS button. Just treat the time capsule just like another wireless laptop.
For instructions in setting up wireless settings of Time Capsule click on this link -->>

Hope this helps. Glad to be of service.
