Keyboard lockes up when attempting to log in with password. wont type anythin. also lockes mouse when i touch any key.will not work with an external keyboard via usb. cant get in

I recently installed a new lcd screen in my dv6120 and took all percautions while dissassembly ie battery out, no static discharge. After assemling it back together i turned in on and logged on and everything was wworking great. I had to remove my spyware doctor program and a few other programs that i rarely used. i actually got rid of a couple programs that i didnt know what they did. then, i shut my computer down and when i turned it back on and went to logg on to my user acount and punch in my password the keyboard wont key in anythind and it lockes up the on board mouse as well forcing me to power off through hibernation mode and then when power back up my mouse is working but when i go to touch any key on the key board it lockes up again. it wont even let me get into windows.

Hi there.
Restart the PC and boot into safe mode by pressing F8 just after the post/splash screen, this will take you into a sub menu with a few advanced choices, choose safe mode and hit enter.
The PC will start up with minimal drivers, if it lets you use the keyboard perform a system restore and take the PC back to a date before you uninstalled all the programs.
When system restore is complete it will restart and boot up normally, hopefully now you will have the keyboard back and you can proceed to uninstall spyware doctor etc.
Don't uninstall anything that you are unsure about, if you have to post back on here and ask if uninstalling a program will affect the system or hardware.
If the keyboard still does not work please post back for more advice.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

My computer wont go to the sign in page

Could be a hardware or software problem, not enough detail to tell, however..
Before you try anything remove all external devices and see if anything changes. Sometimes external device drivers can prevent KB working.
Is there an icon the bottom left corner of the login screen? If so select Type without a keyboard and an on-screen keyboard should appear. Use the trackpoint/pad (or mouse) to log in.
Now check the keyboard to see which if any keys are working.
Let us know how you get on

Key board 4000 not working, mouse work, replaced the batteries

Try using CTRL, ALT, DELETE. It sounds like you may have locked your
keyboard by accident. Once you hit CTRL, ALT, DELETE, it will bring up the
log in page. Simply enter your password, if any, and you should be good to
go.

CANT ENTER MY PASSWORD TO GET IN MY COMPUTER KEYS NOT TYPING ON SCREEN ITS LIKE THE WIRELESS KEY BOARD IS NOT RESPONDING

My advice would be to put new batteries in the keyboard and see if that works, failing that, pick up a wired keyboard and mouse to log in to your system then re-connect the wireless set to re-install the drivers.

Hi the keypad will work when i log in with my password but nothing else. it beeps when i hit the keys

Try external keyboard - if still "beeps" then keyboard drivers may be corrupted.
Fun to replace with just a mouse. I.ve done it.

Keyboard wont work.

i had the same problem and called hp i was told to turn off my notebook and unplug the charger from the notebook take the battery off and hold down the power button for 30 seconds then reattach everything my keyboard started working again. i was told this happens because i donot let the battery die on my laptop or i keep it plugged in all the time which is true the notebook has to much static and the keyboard stops working. hope this helps

The keyboard, built in and external mouse do not respond.

If BIOS menu has User password set then nothing will work until you type in the password. The keyboard will appear not to be working until correct pwd is typed. Try entering your password like this
pwd1<Enter> pwd2<Enter> pwd3<Enter>
where pwd1 is your guess at the password and <Enter> is when you press the <Enter> key on keyboard.

KEYS AND MOUSE

Check to make sure your touch pad is not turned off. Regarding the keyboard you need to check to see if you have set the laptop to work off an external keyboard. Check the function keys at the top of the keyboard they are used to turn on and off the keyboard and mouse functions
