Unplug the printer from the wall. Now remove the power brick from the back of the printer for 60 seconds. Plug everything back in. This will reset any error messages the printer has.

Power on the printer. Open the printer and take out the Dell Series 5 Black cartridge. make sure all the tape is off the cartridge and put the cartridge back in. Now do the same for the Dell Series 5 color cartridge.

Close the printer. It should print an alignment page. Any error messages?

I am getting the following error message: Black/photo cartridge missing


Unplug the printer from the wall. Now remove the power brick from the back of the printer for 60 seconds. Plug everything back in. This will reset any error messages the printer has.

The colour ink cartridge is not being identified. I have tried taking them out and putting them in again. I have powered it off and on but nothing is working. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Scanner not working, but printer does print


Can you copy a document, when you put it under the glass? B&W and color?

If so, then it is a driver issue. Try reinstalling the printer by following the instructions located at...

If not, then...

Unplug the printer from the wall. Noe remove the power brick from the printer for 60 seconds. This will reset any error message the printer is getting. Plug the printer back in.

Turn on the printer. Open up the printer and take out the black cartridge and reseat it. Do the same for the color cartridge. Now close the printer and it will print an alignment page. Any error messages?

If you still get the error message, then it's possible that the sensor in the Dell Series 5 ink cartridge is bad. If this is a new Dell Series 5 ink cartridge, then take it back to the place of purchase for a replacement or refund.

Cannon i860 Printer has been sitting without use for a few months. It acts like it prints but none of the colors show up on the paper. Why?


The color cartridges have gummed up from sitting. If the print heads are on the cartridges themselves, take the cartridge(s) out and place them on a paper towel that has been wet with warm water. Be sure and place them where they won't stain anything. Once you see the colors coming onto the paper towel, remove them and place them back into the printer. Now, refer to the manual for performing a cartridge cleaning procedure. You should be back up and running.

After installing re-filled ink cartridges, both color and back & white, the printer message that shows ink level still shows low level ink? How do we resolve?


Hello,

Try this procedure:
1. Open printer lid so cartridges move to center of carriage.
2. Lift clamp and remove black or color cartridge from the holder.
3. Place cartridge on table with copper contact strip facing you.
4. Carefully place a strip of clear plastic tape over the four contacts on the upper left corner of the cartridge.
5. Reinstall cartridge in printer and close lid. Wait until cartridge returns to parking position.
6. Open lid and remove cartridge again. Remove tape from left side and place tape over four contacts at upper right corner of cartridge.
7. Reinstall cartridge in printer and close lid. Wait until cartridge returns to parking position again.
8. Open lid again, remove cartridge, remove tape.
9. Reinstall cartridge and close lid.
Printer will now recalibrate. Once the process is complete the ink level meter should be reading full again.

  1. Click Start, Programs, Lexmark Series.
  2. Click Lexmark Control Panel.
  3. Click Print Cartridge installation.
  4. Depending on which cartridges you are using and which printer model you have, select Install Color Cartridge or Install Black Cartridge or Install Photo Cartridge.
  5. Carefully remove the tape covering the printhead of the print cartridge. Important: Be sure to remove all of the tape. Do not touch the copper area on the back of the cartridge.
  6. Insert the print cartridge into the print cartridge carrier.
  7. Push the cartridge back until it clicks into place.

    • If the print cartridge moves loosely in the carrier, it is not locked into place. Repeat step 7.

  8. Click the appropriate Cartridge Installed option in the printer software.

    • If you choose to install a new print cartridge, you will be prompted to align your print cartridges. The printer will print a page with a bi-directional alignment pattern. Follow these steps to align the cartridges:

      1. On the printed test page, locate the number under the Bi-directional Alignment pattern that comes closest to forming a straight line.
      2. Enter the number as the Bi-directional Alignment setting in the Alignment Cartridge screen.
      3. Click OK.

  9. Close the front cover of the printer.

My printer doesn't not recognize that I just put in a new color cartridge


hi,
try to remove the new color cartridge, if you have a clean cloth, try to wipe to copper strip of the new cartridge. try to wipe the copper strip of the carrier where you put the color cartridge, BUT before doing that make sure that the printer's power cable is unplugged.
place the power cable after wiping the copper strip of the color cartridge carrier. then place the color cartridge. if still same. try the old cartridge. if the old one is recognized, it's your new cartridge fault. you need to contact dell to have the cartridge replaced. if you ordered it from dell.

Reading incorrect color cartridge


Please let me know whether you have replaced the cartridge with a new one or you have refilled it.

If it is a new cartridge than try below mentioned steps :-
Remove both cartridges (even if the message indicates only one cartridge
Unplug the printer.
Inspect the cartridges:
If the cartridges are new, make sure the protective tape has been removed completely.
Make sure the cartridges are not damaged. If the copper-colored electrical strip is torn or punctured, the cartridge must be replaced.
Make sure the cartridges are compatible with the printer.

Reinstall the cartridges
Make sure each cartridge is in the correct slot
Make sure the cartridge is snapped into place and the latch is closed
Close the front cover and plug the printer back in.

If the steps above have not solved the problem than Wipe the copper-colored electrical contacts with a clean, dry, lint-free cotton cloth
Reinstall the cartridges, close the front cover, and plug the printer back in

Can't print color


Just a thought, have you removed the tape on the top of the cartridge which allows the ink to flow, removing the tape allows air to be sucked through the cartridge.

Another thing you could do, is take all the cartridges out of the machine , remove the printhead from machine, then use a tissue and dab the bottom of the printhead, to see if ink is coming out. If not place ink cartridges on the printhead and place a vacuum cleaner hose on the bottom of the printhead and turn it on, this will force ink through the printhead. Dab Printhead again to see if any ink is there, if not try again. Place back in printer and try printing
