SOURCE: oven is cooking unevenly

ladder, here are some suggestions to try to help you with this problem. Make sure that you wait another 10 minutes to put your food in after the preheat light goes out or tone goes on. The manufactures like to get that energy effecient label on these ranges. If your utensil is dark, darkened by age or glass, these will absorb more heat and can cause over browning. Lower the oven temp for these types of utensils or use a pan with a shiney finish. Make sure the utensil is not too close to any oven wall. Do not check for doneness until minimum recommended baking time. Opening the door frequently causes the lower element to cycle and provides too much intense heat. Use the second or third rack from the bottom. Finally, check the owners manual for calibration instructions. You might be off with that. Catriver...post back.

SOURCE: Preheat taking long time

If your oven has the hidden bake element then it is probably working properly. A standard oven with an exposed bake element will usually take about 12-15 minutes to preheat. The hidden element models take a little longer but they usually heat a little more evenly.

The bottom of the oven does not heat only the sides, is this the correct operation of the oven?

ooking with a convection oven requires some adjustments, but may prove much easier and more rewarding in the long run. Because the heated air transfers heat more efficiently to cooking containers and exposed food surfaces, food will take less time to cook. Most recipes can be cooked for 25% shorter time, which ends up saving energy. The temperature at which food cooks may need to be lowered slightly on a trial and error basis.

Top burners on Frigidaire gas stove come on but the oven will not.Whats the problem?

This sounds like a weak igniter, it would have to be a gas oven and the symptoms usually are: takes longer than normal to ignite the burner, may or may not smell gas in the oven, does not maintain set temperature or burner does not come on fully, eventually won't heat at all. On gas ovens, a glo igniter is like a light bulb, the more you cook, the faster it wears out. Bottom line, needs to be replaced. Good luck.

Takes what seems to a an extended time to PreHeat either oven.

Sadly ours performs this way also. I've always had GE wall ovens and NEVER did they take very long to get up to temperature.
Has anyone else communicated with you about this problem?
