Miele Touch Tropic 9800. Why is it making a loud grinding noise?

Hi dear. Regarding your information,it's a dryer. Most likely it has bearing damaged or problem with drum drive system. There are several bearings on the dryer (one at the back- two on the front support, tension pulley etc...) I can advised to get it check by Miele. Thanks.

Miele WT945 Dryer Problems - stage by stage fixing (Introduction)

After two years of regular dryer fan seizure, and having called out a Miele technician to fix an unrelated problem on the WT945 (main water heater shorted), I pumped him for more information on the dryer side of things. I have to say he was extremely helpful and straightforward with his advice. So – with much help from the expert – I’ve attempted a complete summary of the dryer problem and its various solutions, which hopefully may be of interest to fellow sufferers. Good luck!

Introduction

Dryer fan seizure seems to be a common problem with the WT945 as it ages. The symptom is (usually) a flashing ‘dryer’ light on the front panel and wet, cold clothes instead of a good drying cycle. If you’re familiar with your Miele sounds, there is also the absence of the high-pitched fan motor noise when drying (although the main drum still ‘tumbles’).

Before you attempt a fix, please be aware of safety issues. If you’re not confident about working on mains appliances with large, heavy moving parts, I would not recommend moving beyond Stage 1. In any case, always work with the power off, and beware of the heater (the long rectangular box sitting on top of the drum) – it can get very hot indeed.

First understand your components. When you take the top off the machine (screws under white plastic caps on each side of the top, about 5 cm in from the front), you will see a very obvious electric motor at the top rear right corner of the unit. This is the fan motor, which (through a rubber belt) drives a shaft that goes into a much larger, flattish unit bolted onto the back of the drum. This larger unit is the ‘fan box’, and hidden within it is the dryer fan that moves the air that does the drying (similar to a hairdryer). The small nylon ‘fan’ mounted on the front of the motor shaft (which cools the motor itself) is a red herring – this isn’t the fan we’re concerned with.

You will undoubtedly drop tools into the machine at some stage. Don’t panic and don’t mess about with magnets on strings etc – it’s far quicker to open the whole front panel which hinges on the right like a door. Take out the detergent tray, undo three Torx screws revealed around the edges of the tray holder, undo the three bolts behind the main door of the machine (these aren’t as fundamental as they look – nothing is going to fall off!). Open the filter flap and unclip the filter drain outlet from the inside of the flap. Open the door by breaking the seal and overcoming the spring clip at the base of the left hand side (can be quite stiff). Access is now pretty easy to the ‘floor’ of the machine to retrieve your tools. When closing the front again, don’t forget to feed the emergency door release plastic tab through the hole at the top of the filter flap aperture, otherwise it will be hidden inside the machine next time you want to use it.

See my next tip 'Stage 1 fix' to start work.

Why is my washing machine Miele w404 making thudding noises on spin Plse?

Unbalance load???

When in spinning cycle, does your drum start shaking violently and hitting the washer outer walls. Out of balance load.....

Is your machine on level floor. Does it have a play on legs while sitting doing nothing???

Happens for every load, then may be your washer shocks and/or top coil springs have come out or broken..

Or machine drum counter weights broken and drum going out of balance.

Miele w310..drum fills with water slowly after a wash.put my head in...cant hear water leaking into it..

Did you open the water tap complete? When it is open all the way already, please close the tap complete and remove the hose and check the filter closest to the tap. Eventually clean it and put the hose back. Don't forget to open the tap again and check you did tighten the hose. (No leakage)

Drum not turning. There is heat. Opened machine found broken belt. Drum will not turn by hand. What would it cost to fix?

in the package of the new belt, the belt for the dryer the instructions are right on or in the package, if not normally you take the front and possibly the top of the dryer 1st.... off slide the belt over the drum, and the insert it through the tensioner and then unto the motor. you have to make sure the belt has tension on it this will show it will be able to move the drum.... you can download maintenance manual form here

price depends where you purchase it.. $ 20 to $ 45

Yep, sounds like a power switch. Great Northern does not sell repair parts that I know of. You could try contacting them at www.greatnorthernpopcorn.com . Or remove the switch and bring it into an electrical supply house, or restaurant parts distributor and match up the size of the switch.

Replacing door seal on w698 miele

Normally they're held on with 2 wire rings, 1 at the edge of the seal at the door opening and the other on the edge of the outer drum. Unplug your machine and remove the lid, this will help access and give you more light to work with. Remove the ring at the door opening first and pull seal from the lip. Access can now be made for the one at the drum. Do the same for the one on the drum.

When putting in new one reverse the procedure and start at the drum, make sure you have the seal the right way around, normally holes in bottom of seal for drainage. Thread the seal over the lip and then put ring on. Same process for the front. Put lid on and plug machine in and test for leaks.

Hi Kieron

Open door then turn off power. Undo 3 bolts around door seal. Remove soap draw. Undo the screws. Peel off door seal at front of machine and fold in towards drum. Metal spring catch located at bottom behind pump filter door. Now open up front of machine (its hinged on the right). Good luck
