Fish it out with something. It may get in the impeller blades or catch fire.

How to clean a lint shoot on an old whirlpool

Bummer, been there, done that! Try fishing with a coat hanger, bent in a hook configuration. Otherwise, surgery is the only way to extract the sock. UNPLUG the machine before you do anything, just to be safe.

A sock was accidentally sucked into the lint filter area, and now the dryer is making a loud noise.

Try to disconnect the filter and throw the sock away it is probably more holes than sock by now.

Ihave a whirlpool gas dryer and my wife droped a sock into the hole where the filter is. Made some noise and then seemed to work just fine. Where did the sock go and shoukd I be worried? Thank you

the sock ended up down below at the bottom where the vent fan blows, I would remove the back of the machine,, remove the vent housing inside, and you'll see the fan which runs off the back of the motor,, ( and probably the sock) and remove it , and any other debris thats collected there, Its a fairly simple task

Brand new dryer. **** went down lint filter area

You may have to remove the front panel to enter the air passages and blower fan. Try feeding a vacuum cleaner hose (remove the metal hose end) into the area behind the filter to see if can pick up whatever dropped into it. Hope this helps!

A sock fell in the vent of my whirlpool dryer

If you mean the lint trap, try this: Unplug the dryer. With a dryer brush (~$10.00 @ Lowe's/similar), bend to approximate the curvature of your cavity and try to retrieve. If this doesn't work, slide/scoot the dryer out and remove the venting duct. Carry outside and dump. If no sock there, look into the dryer exhaust (where the duct connects). Use the brush again to retrieve said sock (and generally clean as you go, as it never hurts). Also look at your vent where your dryer exhaust passes through the wall, clean as you go..... This should get you back up and running.

A sock fell into the lint resevoir; how do I remove it?

If your dryer is the model you have this listed under (lint filter on the top panel), then retrieving something stuck in the vent is pretty simple. Just follow these steps:

1. Unplug the dryer and remove the back panel. The dryer exhaust vent is located on the left hand side (as viewed from the rear).

2. Remove the screws that hold the vent in place and remove. NOTE: Make sure you remove the two screws located on the top panel as well. The entire exhaust vent will come out.

If this is not how your dryer is configured, please post back with your correct model number. If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

sounds as if wither you have a bad motor assy, or something haas fallen down into the "blower assy" preventing the motor form spinning.. in the back wher eyou tested your fuse, just to the left of that you see a large tubular housing (rounded on bottom", thats the cover for the blower , i believe its 3-4 screw holding it on, nad also the 2 screws visable when you remove the filter assy, the housing will pull off( you may need to wiggle it abit) and hopefully youll find a sock or something jammed in the blower assy

sound like something fell down theslot, now preventing the filter form going back in. , its a direct chute down to the blower wheel, not to bad to access, youll need to remove the 2 screws on top , and hte n from behind drop back panel and youl seee the channel right ther probaly 5 screws to relaease it and you can look through and retrieve what has fallen. TURN OFF POWER FIRST

Whirlpool Electric Dryer Won't Start

Your dryer has a non-resettable "thermal safety fuse" part number 3392519 which stops the machine dead when the temperature near the heater gets too high. Typically a restricted vent system causes this so you definitely want to check that before replacing it. A failed control thermostat can also cause this so check the operating temp too.
