Touchpad not working horizontal & vertical motion

    Hi there,

My name is Phuong Trinh and I reside in Oregon. I just recently purchased my laptop about 2 weeks ago and I have had some weird problems with it already and am taking it into the sony store tomorrow. I have experienced a faulty functioning touch pad, faint horizontal lines across the LCD screen that appear and then disappear. I have also noticed that on the side where you swtich on the power the button is loose as compared to the opposite side.

The Wireless always drops and the screen flickers sometime when pulling up the operating system or various other applications and that makes me nervous.

Whats the difference between a vertical and horizontal mills?

Horizontal and vertical just refers to the orientation of the spindle, each has their advantages and disadvantage, the vertical mill is more for standing mechanists and doing more detailed work while the horizontal are designed for cutting heavy pieces.

Cursor constantly scrolling on compaq notebook

Step 1:
The touchpad of Hewlett Packard Compaq notebook computers comes equipped with vertical and horizontal scroll capabilities. Dragging your finger on the top or side of the touchpad will scroll in windows equipped with scrollbars. This feature takes some getting used to if you're used to a regular mouse or a wheel equipped mouse. If you prefer to not have vertical and horizontal scrolling performed from the touchpad, one or both features can be disabled.

Double-click the red Synaptics icon on your task bar. If it's not displaying, open the Control Panel and click on "Mouse" in Windows XP. In Windows Vista/7, type "Mouse" in the search field of the "Start" menu and click on the Mouse result. Click on the "Device Settings" tab and then click on the "Settings" button. The Properties for Synaptics TouchPad dialog box will appear. Click on "Virtual Scrolling" in the "Select an Item" box on the left. Clear one or both scrolling features in the "Virtual Scrolling" section. Click "Apply," and then "OK."

Touchpad problem:compaq presario cq40 up-down scroll problem

Hello, this type of problem is common and arises due to improper device driver action or when the driver gets corrupt. In order to fix this you may need to reinstall the touchpad driver. Since you have a Compaq laptop, the driver is located in a folder named SWSetup in the C:\ drive of your computer. After you reinstall the software and restart the laptop, you will need to reconfigure your touchpad device.
To configure the touchpad open the control panel, and go to mouse under Hardware & Sound option. There you can configure the pointer speed, buttons, horizontal and vertical scrolling, inertial movement, etc. according to your wish.

Let me know that the problem is fixed or not.
We are always there for your help.

Regards.

How do i use my touch pad to work horizontally or vertically

To enable the touchpad scroll features, you you have to install the touchpad driver. The basic touchpad features work without the driver installed but the scrolling requires it.

I have lost the ability to scroll using the right vertical edge of the touch pad. Otherwise the pad works fine but it is annoying not being able to scroll any more without moving the cursor to the 'scroll...

The option to enable or disable the scrolling option for the notebook touchpad is generally available by going to the Control Panel, then selecting Mouse. Within that area, go to Device Settings, select the touchpad from the list of available devices, then click Settings. There should be an option for "virtual scrolling" - click on it, and you should be given the options to turn on or off both horizontal and vertical scrolling for the touchpad control.
