Question about Acer Aspire AX3910 Desktop
I press the on button, the fans start up but there is not "beep" sound and the system will not boot. Have used the cord from the monitor to see if it is power supply problem but again nothing happens.

I have the same model and had the same problem. Fortunately there is a simple fix - unplug all your USB devices (mouses, printers etc). It should now boot!
Assuming that fixed it, it was trying to boot from a USB drive for some unknown reason. I think it was due to the latest windows XP update. Wierd. Hit F12 next time you reboot and make sure it is booting from hard disk first.

If your power supply is bad, there is typically a much cheaper way to fix it rather than purchasing a new one.
If you know a little about electronics or know someone who does have them open up the power supply and check the capacitors. Often times when a power supply goes bad its the result of capacitors going bad.
If you notice on the ends of any capacitors a brownish/whitish discharge or "bulging" then the capacitor has gone bad.
A new one typically cost less than a dollar and replacing it is fairly easy if you know how to solder.
Let me know if you have anymore questions and hopefully if this is the case you can save some money.

Try removing the system memory and clean the brass contacts and the slots it goes into, then reseat the memory and try to boot again, the memory looks like this >>>>>>>

99 times out of 100 it is a memory problem. You need to clean up the memory and try it in a different slot and the same slot and it should wokr
