Block a contact on yahoo.mail - Computers & Internet

You can either temporarily hide the ads that keep popping up on your Yahoo Mail page or block them permanently. To know how, refer to the steps below.

To temporarily hide ads (for free email accounts):
1)Sign in to your Yahoo Mail account
2)When, while viewing your list of emails or a particular email, an ad pops up, you can see a right-facing arrow between your email and the advertisement. Click on this arrow.
3)The ad will get hidden temporarily.
(Important: This blocks the ads temporarily only and as soon as you perform the actions like refreshing the Yahoo Mail page, marking a particular email as spam, replying to an email, or just clicking on any of the sections in the navigation-menu located on the left of the page, a new ad may pop up again).

To permanently remove graphical and text ads:
Yahoo Mail has recently come up with "Yahoo Ad Free Mail" service to enable you to get rid of graphical and text ads on a permanent basis when viewing your Yahoo Mail account from a computer. You need to sign up for Yahoo Ad Free Mail account before starting using this service.
(Note: Before signing up for Yahoo Ad Free Mail account, please check if the service is available in your region. Also, even after subscribing to the service, the subscribers may still get the text ads that come up on Yahoo Mail on a mobile web browser and the text ads that come up in the "Basic Mail" interface of Yahoo Mail on a computer. Many of these messages are fake, sent out by people trying to get your personal information. If you can't actually send out e-mails contact Yahoo to see if they have put a block on your account. If you can send out e-mails ignore it and send it to your spam bin. If you put in your password to this and it wasn't a genuine message from Yahoo, change your password now!

Are you using Internet access supplied by your employer, or by your school?

If so, then contact the Network System Administrator at your work/school, and ask them to verify that they have chosen to block access for all their employees/staff/students. It is "their" network; so, they can block whatever they want to block, because you clicked "I Agree" to their Appropriate Usage Policy, in order to access their network.

goto ... > 'Options' and then > 'Block Addresse'
find the address you wanna unblock.... and click the 'Remove Block'

Enter/Click the particular contact and select block this contact from the yahoo mail interface. Thus you can block the person contacting you.

I would contact Yahoo immediately and have them monitor your account to find out what is going on.

Also someone may have simply gained access to your password information and the only thing you can do is to contact Yahoo and change your e-mail address for your profile. Then you can let your contacts know to block your old address.
