My dyson is hard to push on carpeting. how do i fix this problem.
This happens when the bristles in the brush roll get worn down too short. Put in a new brush roll and the machine will pull itself over the carpet, so you hardly have to push at all.
My dyson dc17 animal had become nearly impossible to push on carpets. I
did some research and somewhere on this forum i saw that someone
mentioned replacing the roller.
sure enough i found that my roller was warn down to nubs (vacuum is probably 8 years old, and gets used nearly every day)
I replaced the roller and WOW! it feels like its self propelled now. HUGE DIFFERENCE.
thanks for the help!!
I had same problem and phoned the Dyson helpline. They were very helpful. In my case the problem was caused by slightly gunged up base plate (ScotchGuard residue?). Wash with soapy water, miraculous result! I wouldn't have believed that such a small deposit on the base plate would have such a dramatic effect.<!-- from fixya rte -->
