Officially Apple does not support DVI, only HDMI. DVI does NOT carry audio signals. You may need to use an Optical Audio cable for the sound.

SOURCE: I have my television, cable

The only way you can do this is by connecting the Cable Set Top box HDMI directly to the TV HDMI input and switching the TXSR508 to Apple TV. And if you want to hear the Cable sound through the TXSR, connect analogue audio out of the TV to one of the analogue inputs of the TXSR ( Aux or Video In ). You may not get the Cable TV's Dolby 5.1 sound but you will get stereo sound which on using the TXSR's dsp setting ( ProLogic II ) can be made into 5.1.

How can I connect a samsung bdf5900 to my hitachi rear projection tv

Your TV is probably older and has Component, Composite and DVI connectors. HDMI is a newer connector that integrates sound. If your RPTV does not have HDMI but DOES have DVI, you can get an HDMI to DVI adapter on eBay or a computer store pretty cheap. You will need another way to get the sound from the Blu-Ray player, either external speakers connected to the player, or stereo RCA cables from the player to the TV (there will be a set of RCA audio plugs with the TV's DVI port).

I bought apple tv. had to hook it up with a dvi-d to my apple tv box. the video looks great but no audio what do i need to do

dvi carries video only- no audio. apple TV has optical out only for audio. if you don't have an optical audio input on your sound source you can get an optical analog converter for about $40

How do I connect my iMac 27" i7

You can buy an optional cable that you can plug into the mini-DVI or mini-displayport port at the back of your iMac.see example picture on: http://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/products/new/570842.jpgFirst you need to be sure to know exact if you have a mini-DVI or mini-displayport. The connectors are different and depend on how old your iMac is. Than you can buy the connector that fits your Mac. The you only need to check the connections on your TV. HDMI or DVI will give the best image quality. VGA is older and will result in a lower image quality. Last, you need to buy a cable between the adapter and your TV.

I am trying to hook up the sound from my pc to tv .i have picture from the internet but no sound. hooked a dvi cable from the pc audio out to tv but no sound do i need seperate speakers

DVI do not have audio in it, with a HDMI converter you could get it tho. Or you have to also connect the audio from the PC to your TV with 3.5mm converter to RCA.

Your mac would have to have a fully hd compliant mini port. To be honest I havent even checked to see if any do. Then you would want to get a mini video port to HDMI adapter. If you don't have one of the newer Intel mac then chances are you cant do sound through that port, which is what your tv is looking for on the hdmi port.

Easiest solution is to hook your headphone port on your laptop to a stereo or some decent computer speakers, which usually sound better than tv speakers anyway.

Hi
It may just be possible that DVI signal does not convert to HDMI signal. So in theory this may not be possilbe for you to get a result with your present attempt. May i suggest connecting to the DVI port of the TV. i.e Mini Display to DVI.

I have an r52wh74 tv. cant get it to display 720p

Hello Matiki64:

Yes this television does support 720p and 1080i. Hear is something that might solve your problem or at least get you going in the right direction.

Problems with DVI-HDTV Connection
• Make sure the DVI device is turned on and the cables are firmly connected. If problems still occur, turn off your device. Re-connect
your device. Reset the power by unplugging the power cord and plugging it back in.
• If you are tuned to the DVI-HDTV input and you’re receiving Unusable Signal message on-screen, contact the manufacturer of the
DVI device for further assistance.
• If you tune to the DVI-HDTV input and you see snow, the video goes in and out, or the video takes a long time to appear, your DVI
device is having trouble sending video information to the TV. Re-connect your device. Reset the power by unplugging the power
cord and plugging it back in. If problems persist, try connecting to the Y Pb Pr jacks instead if they are available or contact the
manufacturer of the DVI device for further assistance.
• If you have bars on each side of your picture, the device you connected might have a switch or a menu option allowing you to
change the picture format output that will fix this. Choose either 720p or 1080i.

dvi is just video. hdmi has both video and audio. dvi is still used because it is a standard for computers.

connect the audio from the audio rca jack to your TV / speakers. If you have surround sound you should use the SPDIF optical audio port - it'll be cleaner and support all channels.

Remember audio has to go to an amplifier or all-in-one box, which goes to your speakers. If your speakers are built into your tv you should be able to plug it in directly and then select the audio channel on your TV. If you plug it in and you still don't hear anything it's a problem with selecting the correct audio input on your TV / amplifier

Insignia LCD TV won't recognize computer input...

Heres the dealyo.
Click start button
Click control panel
Click display
Click settings
adjust screen resolution (probably have to go down) until the tv displays your computer
if this did not work, you will have to adjust bit rate from 32 to 16. Fiddle with the settings until the magic happens.
You will not get any sound unless you use an audio jack plugged into t.v.

Im here all week
