I have just purchased a 'chimp' 9" android tablet when ive been using the internet but i cannot seem to close any of the tabs ive opened - ive tried the - back space and of course the'x' in the right hand corner but doesn't seem to do anything - what have I missed?

LOL, you're up the creek. Never buy a computer that does not have a CD Drive on it because that is what you need now.
May the AC Adapter Power Cord is bad. Some of them have a indicator light on them when you plug them in the wall. Does yours have a light on it and does it light up?
When you plug the power cord in the tablet do you see any lights?
