Question about Compaq Computers & Internet
Hi i got an old compaq laptop from a friend but he says it was wiped clean before he got it, apparently it was a school computer . when i turn it on it does a memory scan 0 to 32768 kb ok then a screen comes up that says ''non system disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready''. there are no disks in the drives and i can not seem to go any further with it. the bios wont come up when i hit f10. if i hit fn esc a small box that says compaq bios appears but i cant change anything in it i think i need to reinstall the compaq bios then the op system, but i need to know where or how to get the disk.i did not get any disks with it and i think it boots from the floppy first. is there any way to bring it back to life ? any help would be appreciated
Common with old compaq Laptops, when the HDD Fails generally it takes time to get into BIOS ( may be not ), Problem, stumps down to NO HDD , try to check the HDD Bay , check for the noice from HDD..you can do DOS boot (win98) from CD or Floppy and do FDISK...if it shows HDD , not much to worry it not ....finally you may need to replace the HDD.
Hope ti helps....Keep the hope :)
