SOURCE: cant share internet using a router

Hi There, what model of dlink router do you have?
Also, Or just check the ports you have in your router, the internet should be connected to the WAN port and the switch and/or computers to the LAN port(s).
If the router is new by default you should be able to access internet by plug everything the way I told you.
Also, by default the router ip address should be, type that into your web browser address bar, then you will have access to the router admin web page were you can see the status page, there will tell you if you have or not access to Internet really. Maybe the problem is that the router have no access internet access at all.

If it keeps on trying to connect to PPPoE, try not to use PPPoE setting. Use Automatic Configuration or DHCP connection type.

A problem has occurred when trying to access the internet. Please check your DSL/Cable connection and verify your internet connection settings. Wtf is this ? Firmware update doesnt helped. .

Cables connection might loosen up. Check cables that runs from the wall jack going into your modem, make sure all cables are tightly plugged in. Also, check indicator light on your device. If DSL light is RED, OFF, flashing red, flashing green. there might be trouble with your Internet provider. DSL light indicator MUST be always on STEADY GREEN. If you see that the DSL light is not on STEADY GREEN status call your Internet service provider.

How do I set this router up with AT&T Internet?

Hi Friend,

Make sure that you have connected all the wires/cables to their respective ports/places. Please follow the steps:

1.Open web browser and type and hit enter.
2.Enter admin as username and password.
3.Select the proper region.

For cable modem:

* For most cable modem users, you should be able to connect to the Internet without any

configuration. If your ISP has provided you with a host name, enter it in the optional Host

Name field.

* If your ISP requires a registered MAC Address, click on the Clone MAC Address button.

Click Apply and OK to save the setting.

* Go to Status tab, Internet connection section to verify if you get the valid IP address

For DSL:

* Select PPPoE from the drop-down menu.

* Enter your username and password provided by your ISP.

Click Apply and OK to save the setting. Go to Status tab, Internet connection section to verify if you get the valid IP address information.

4.Click Wirless (to configure wireless settings).

SSID: Any name as per your choice.

Operating Mode: Infrastructure

Authentication: Open System

Channel #: 6

WEP: Enabled and type any ten digit number as your password. You can use this password whenever you try to connect your wireless devices.

I hope this will resolve the issue.

Hello, I just installed a new router, and it all

verify your internet modem it connected to the WAN port on your WRT160N, login to the WRT160N and go to the "status" tab and see what your internet status is. You should see a page similar to this:
Verify your router has an Internet IP address. If it does not, then you haven't finished configuring your router. If it does have an IP address, then turn off your firewall and see if you can get connected that way.

Cannot detect network connection

Instead of running the CD, try to configure the router manually. First, make sure that you have verified internet connectivity between your PC and your modem. Once verified, connect your modem to the internet port of your router and then your PC to any of the ports (1, 2, 3, or 4) at the back of your router. Turn ON your modem, router and PC.

On your PC go to Start>Run> then type "cmd" and hit the Enter key.
On the black screen type ipconfig/all and hit the Enter key.
Check the IP address of your Local Area Connection.
If it is, then you are good to go.
Check the connectivity between your PC and the router. On the black screen type ping and hit the Enter key.
If you're getting replies, minimize the window and open a browser.
Type and hit the Enter key.
Once prompted with a username and password type admin (admin is the default password).
Once you're on the Web interface of the router, enter your internet connection type and then save the settings.
Once done, click on the Status tab and then check the internet IP address.
If there's an internet IP address, try to open a new window and see if you can access the internet.
