Question about HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer

1 Answer

Cleaned mirrors and now everything is streaking

Disassembled printer and cleaned mirrors because magenta was faded. After putting it all back together the printer is worse than before. Now the colors are streaking and there is hardly any magenta at all. Before everything was slightly greener than it should be but now it is all really yellow with some blue. I used cotton swabs to clean the mirrors and don't know if I should have used something else or if a glass cleaner or something.

You need to clean all the "widows" inside the laser unit too. Cleaning only the mirrors will not do any good. You can use some Methylated Spirits to clean it propperly.

The Magenta colour on my 2605dn is no longer coming out properly (very faint). The cartridge was replaced by made no difference. All other cartridge colours work fine. Tried cleaning and calibrating but...

A faded magenta on this model is probably a dirty scanner mirror.
The printer design puts a fan in an area that blows magenta toner directly at the laser scanner.
The more toner on the mirror, the more faded the print.
You will need to remove the scanner and clean it.

This printer has stopped printing reds and oranges correctly ? they are faded. Changed the toners & no difference

Print a "Config Report" from the printers menu...If u notice that the fourth square on the left side (fourth being the bottom square) for Magenta (reds and orange) is missing or very faded, this could indicate that the optical mirrors inside the printer have to be cleaned...Design flaw. ESP..if changing toners doesn't work and your your faded issue is with Magenta (Pink, red, or orange) colours are the only faded ones...With this design flaw in the optical mirrors, magenta mirror is the first to be affected!
Hope this helps!!!! I work in the industry :)

Very faint output after cleaning laser unit

Did you physically take the scanner assembly apart and clean the lenses and mirrors inside? if so, then it could be down to a faulty laser scanner assembly

Magenta is weak/fading out

Well there is something that is getting on the lenses of the laser which is causing it to block the left side of the image. NEVER use that canned air stuff on LaserPrinters because this is what happenes to them if you do. The exess toner goes right onto the lenses and you have to take them apart to be cleaned.

Sir,

Please see this website:

I just cleaned the mirrors in my HP 2600n printer using those instructions. It takes about 2 hours to do, but it's easy if you just go slow and careful and follow those directions.

Images very magenta-y

Possibility of low toner.
Not the magenta, but when every other color has run out, things do start seeming a little red.

CLP-500 vertical streaks & a horizontal line with blotches appearing randomly

I've refilled the toner cartridges a few times now and never had a problem with vertical streaks until recently. I refilled both the cyan and magenta and when I ran the test page I had dark vertical streaks on both sides. I fiddled around cleaning things, running cleaning paper through, changing reset resistors but to no avail so eventually decided to buy a replacement refurbished cyan cartridge since the streaks looked mainly blue and bingo... well almost now I just have very light magenta streaks. The issue is obvious when I compared the old and new cartridge, the replacement toner is a much duller cyan and is of the wrong consistency since once it's been in the printer everything gets covered in it which is why I think it causes the banding to occur. I'm just trying to work out now whether to try refilling the magenta again (v. messy) or just go for another refurbished cartridge (£34).
